What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Arbitrary position and grouping of the nodes
To be able to position some nodes farther away from it's parent.
Ability to put a boundary (with label) around nodes to create a collapsible group.145 votesThis is now available at www.mindmup.com, see an example at:
http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/09/use-shiftdrag-to-manually-position-nodes.htmlWe’d love to hear your feedback on the solution, please let us know by sending an e-mail to contact@mindmup.com or leaving a comment here.

Ability to make bowed connect lines that do not go through other nodes
I very much like the connecting node lines. However, as of now it is not possible to draw them in a way that they do not go through other nodes.
Let's say you have one node on the right side of the root node and one on the left. Creating a connection line will make it go straight through the root node.
I would like to have an additional option (next to dotted, solid, and colour)
bowed
that will make this line curved, trying to avoid other nodes and instead going around them.I hope my request is clear.
Thanks…
126 votesthis is now done in mindmup 2.0, you can select a theme (view→themes) and the simple theme has bowed connectors that do not cross each other or nodes

collaborating on a mindmup simultaneously
several person can working simultaneously on a same mindmup, during a no collocated workshop. The map is updated in realtime.
123 voteswe enhanced collaboration significantly over the weekend. you can now see who is online, follow them automatically and work on the same node together… See http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/05/how-were-making-collaboration-more.html for more info

connecting nodes to each other
WHY: sometimes I want to show a connection between other nodes than the parent/sibling/child nodes
121 votesthe first version of this is live now. See http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-links-between-nodes.html for more info. Touch devices aren’t yet fully supported, we’re working on that. If this turns out to be useful and popular, we’ll probably extend it with arrows, line types etc. Let us know what you think about it on this forum.

ChromeOS MindMup App
I would like to be able to use MindMup offline on my Chromebook. I can currently install MindMup as an extension which is nice, however I have to connect to the internet to load MindMup (while it downloads the JS files I imagine) then I can continue to use it without the internet and save to local browser storage. So option to load offline would be great and perhaps save to local storage.
105 votesWe have a new chrome app for offline work – most of the features are already there and we’ll add the rest during the next few weeks: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mindmup-desktop-free-mind/eealagocaipaflcjmeapmobpmilffopi

Add the ability to rotate or change the orientation of the mind map
Going from right to left at times takes away the perspective from the map.....enabling vertical orientation will provide much more flexibility and creativity to the maps. Also optimise the use of screen space.
105 votesmindmup 2.0 now supports vertical layouts
see http://blog.mindmup.com/2016/05/create-vertical-hierarchies-with.html for more info

Make it look more like a real mindmap to improve readibility
Main suggestions:
- text on the branches itself instead of in boxes
- (automatically) have branches and text in same color96 votesthis is now supported using the new drawing engine, which allows users to define default sizes, colors, fonts etc for nodes, with the support for defaults for levels as well. For more info, see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
we plan to work on this feature more over the next month and reduce the dependency on CSS. At the moment, styling the map requires a bit of CSS knowledge.
-
floating
Ability to have more than one master node on the same map - i.e. a floating nodes. I see that other tools such as mindomo offer this feature.
93 votesyou can now add multiple roots, disconnect nodes and float them, and manage multiple maps in the same file on mindmup 2.0.
If you use google drive, use https://drive.mindmup.com
if you use free storage or Gold storage, use https://app.mindmup.com

Link between two mindmups
I would like to get a simple link working between a node in parent mindmup to a different mindmup, where we can further mindmap that topic. Helps in delving\organising the mindmaps
82 votessorry just noticed this — linking between mindmups existed straight from the start — each map has a unique URL, and you can just paste that URL into a node in another map to create a link.

font formatting
It would be good to have the option of formatting font and changing size.

Allow Comments and labeling
Allow comment along with attachment. So a quick detail about the node can be seen without opening the attachment.
Allow labeling node connector line.79 votesthe labeling part of this idea is now done. just click on a connection and you can set the text.

Be able to interconnect connect lines
So children can have multiple parents
79 votesyou can use concept mapping features in mindmup to achieve this now, see https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/concept_mapping.html

Remember preferable type of storage
As a rule, I keep all my mindmaps on Google Drive. But every time, I start new mindmap, I must set Drive as a place storage.
To avoid it, it is possible to remember a storage choice, from the previous mindmap.
73 voteswith mindmup 2.0 we’re building one app for each storage type, so the initial one always saves to drive. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2015/10/mindmup-20-is-now-ready.html for more info.

[copy nodes to another map]
- copy nodes (a part of #1map)
- paste to designated node of #2 map
73 votesthis is now done. you can just cut and paste (or copy and paste) a submap or a group of nodes across maps or even into a new map. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2014/03/you-can-now-copy-paste-across-maps.html for more information

themed color palette in mindmup 2.0
More useful (themed) color palette in mindmup 2.0.
Current colors of the color palette are not organised. If they'd be organised like MS Office themes (e.g. dark color on top, then one color tone lighter, etc) it would be easier to color children based on the color of its parent.
Please see this http://postimg.org/image/y6soslezv/Total happiness would be if one could select different color palettes. For example when there are a lot of children.
71 votesHi, check out https://www.mindmup.com/news/2018/08/09/custom-theme.html — you can now create your own palette

Controlling the width of each node
Some nodes have more text inside them and would look better if the width could be adjusted as needed. Maybe something similar to the way images can be resized in microsoft word. Click and drag to the desire size.
69 votesthis is now done. Check out https://www.mindmup.com/news/2016/11/07/expand-nodes.html for more information
