What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

The ability to add a child node coming from more than one parent node. (Multiple Parent Nodes)
I have a mup that I am making but I have come across a small issue. In my mup I need to show that two items coming together cause another. (So two parents nodes coming together cause the child.) I need the ability to show a child node coming from both parent node equally rather than connected to one fully and the other with and extra line.

Do you have a setting for those who are red/green colourblind? (like dotted lines for objections)
In the argument mapping mode, can we have a setting for anyone who is red/green colourblind, so they can easily spot the difference between supporting reasons and objections? (Like dotted lines for objections -- also handy for students who just have monochromatic printers to print out their maps)
9 votesWe’re making argument visualisations more inclusive with a new visual theme for MindMup: https://www.mindmup.com/news/2020/10/28/argument-visualization-high-impact.html

Visually distinguish supporting and opposing reasons not just by color
The edges between nodes in argument maps should visually distinguish supporting and opposing reasons not just by color, since many people are red-green colorblind.

map background color
I use Mindmup every day and I hope this feature will be implemented one day. It would make the maps more colorful and easier to read, which is an advantage for rote learning (among other things).
47 votesYou can now set the map background color using the customise theme tool, from “view → customise map theme”

Export to txt file as CSV.
Export ordered nodes (root/child/...) as simple text.
1 voteHi,
You can do this now with File→Download as→Outline, then select text as the format. CSV is problematic because nodes can contain commas, but you can use the tab separated text format

add stock icons
add stock icons similar to what XMIND has. it's pretty useful to have icons such as 1,2,3,4 to identify priorities. Smileys and flags are also useful indicators. The workaround now is to upload the images as the icons.
323 votesStickers (standard icons) are now globally available to everyone. Check out https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/stickers.html for more information on how to use this feature.

link to another mind map
It would be really nice if we could link a node in mind map to another mind map with a relative path . eg if we have many mind maps in a folder ..
Transport
> Air
>plane
>Land
>Car=>Link to=> "car.mup"
>Bus
>Van
>Water
>Ship
>BoatEg in above example if we could click on car and go a mindmap called car.mup somewhere in the folder . it would be a clean ,navigable and much more maintainable map. esp we are have huge maps.
Note : map files could be accessed using relative paths eg : ~/folder/folder/car.mup
307 votesYou can create submaps easily now, see https://www.mindmup.com/news/2022/09/08/create-submaps-easily.html
If you want to link to an existing map, just paste the URL into the node - see the section "Cross linking maps" on this page https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/linking.html

Ability to make bowed connect lines that do not go through other nodes
I very much like the connecting node lines. However, as of now it is not possible to draw them in a way that they do not go through other nodes.
Let's say you have one node on the right side of the root node and one on the left. Creating a connection line will make it go straight through the root node.
I would like to have an additional option (next to dotted, solid, and colour)
bowed
that will make this line curved, trying to avoid other nodes and instead going around them.I hope my request is clear.
Thanks…
126 votesthis is now done in mindmup 2.0, you can select a theme (view→themes) and the simple theme has bowed connectors that do not cross each other or nodes

Use google web fonts in CSS styling
We can change font sizes but by using the area of free fonts on offer via google web fonts we can easily customize our maps to have greater impact and different node levels different font styles and sizes.
1 voteyou should be able to do this with custom css styling anyway. see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html for more information.

Ability to dill down on a node to create a sub-mindmap
When creating mind maps they can become very large with lots of children nodes linking ideas. To help this problem it is really useful to dill down on a child node to create a sub-mindmap, in the sub-mindmap the child become the parent node in the centre, and all its child nodes are shown. This means you can create one large mind map and dill down onto set topics or area you are working on. A software called "xmind" does this but it doesn't link to google drive.
Keep up the good work guys :)
243 votesHi,
it's now possible to create submaps easily (with some limitations that we plan to remove in the near future). Check out https://www.mindmup.com/news/2022/09/08/create-submaps-easily.html for more information

Printing Attachment
I would like to be able to print attachement. Mindmup is very useful for me, but not being able to print (or at least having a smartphone app) is very limitative when I need the info I stored here and not in front of my computer
35 votesyou can export to PDF to print on anything from small cards to huge posters. File→Export→PDF

Create folders for maps
It would be very beneficial for me to create folders to keep groups of mindmaps in. (and be able to access the folders from the "File" menu)
For example, I use the maps to plan for classes that I teach and having the ability to have a folder and potential subfolders for specific classes/days/etc would be very handy.
23 votesmindmup 2.0 works much better with google drive folders. See http://blog.mindmup.com/2015/10/mindmup-20-is-now-ready.html for more info

[copy nodes to another map]
- copy nodes (a part of #1map)
- paste to designated node of #2 map
73 votesthis is now done. you can just cut and paste (or copy and paste) a submap or a group of nodes across maps or even into a new map. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2014/03/you-can-now-copy-paste-across-maps.html for more information

multi-selecting nodes for editing lay-out
WHY: it's a time saver when I can multi select several nodes or a group of nodes to edit lay-out (see also 'editing lay-out of nodes')
46 voteswe now have a very easy way to automatically color a whole branch or a whole level, fold it, delete it, color it. You can read about it here: http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/06/we-now-suports-multi-select-and-group.html
Is this good enough for what you need, or is there something still missing?

Markdown for composing attachments
Using markdown to compose attachments would be fantastic. Often I need to include code blocks in the attachment and markdown makes this easy. Ideally I would like to use github markdown syntax (code fences!) with syntax highlighting
46 votesyou can now use markdown in notes in mindmup 2.0, and export those notes to a word doc or markdown or html easily
If you use google drive, use https://drive.mindmup.com
if you use free storage or Gold storage, use https://app.mindmup.com

hyperlink direct on the node
It is extra effort (friction) to open a note/attachment on a node then insert a link. Could we just attach a hyperlink directly on the node itself. Less clicks to add hyperlink and less clicks to access.

Themes
It could be nice to hace some kind of predefined themes for me maps and the habitilty to create themes.
Themes includes styles for different levels of bulets
style for line
...etc26 votesthis is now supported using the new drawing engine, which allows users to define default sizes, colors, fonts etc for nodes. For more info, see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
we plan to work on this feature more over the next month and reduce the dependency on CSS. At the moment, styling the map requires a bit of CSS knowledge.
