link to another mind map
It would be really nice if we could link a node in mind map to another mind map with a relative path . eg if we have many mind maps in a folder ..
Transport
> Air
>plane
>Land
>Car=>Link to=> "car.mup"
>Bus
>Van
>Water
>Ship
>Boat
Eg in above example if we could click on car and go a mindmap called car.mup somewhere in the folder . it would be a clean ,navigable and much more maintainable map. esp we are have huge maps.
Note : map files could be accessed using relative paths eg : ~/folder/folder/car.mup
You can create submaps easily now, see https://www.mindmup.com/news/2022/09/08/create-submaps-easily.html
If you want to link to an existing map, just paste the URL into the node - see the section "Cross linking maps" on this page https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/linking.html

link to url would also be awesome.
Drag drop an url add the url in a note of the node. if the content of note on this node is an url => go to page in a new tab when clicking on link

i use file link for that but it is a bit of a hack. A native implementation would be welcome.

you would also need to make sure that there is no REDUNDENT trees of information. If no check you could quickly find yourself in a loop.

I support that idea wholeheartedly. This is congruent with the way the brain as well as mind maps work. You could create a universal meta mindmap that would allow you to move around freely between specific mindmaps. This way you would indeed map your mind, by representing the most important concepts and erasing the gap between, say, Economy mindmap and Philosophy mindmap by linking common nodes or at least the root nodes.

I want to cast a vote for Cameron Moore's comment on this page. A breadcrumb trail of linked maps is an important inclusion to the basic suggestion of linking maps.

I use linking maps together a lot in freemind. It provides a less cluttered map for big ones and isolates components when collaborating and reduces confusion.

It would be great if we are able to attach pictures to our mind maps.

I have been wanting this feature for a while. I have also envisioned this in a way where somehow both maps can be displayed in the same canvas, where the original map is shrunken into the background and the linked map is normal sized in the foreground. Even if the old map is just a raster image of the old map, being able to have a breadcrumb trail would be awesome to navigate across linked maps.
