What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Narrow Google Drive permissions
Current permissions gives to much access. Able to read and delete all files on my Google Drive is far reaching.
20 voteswe pushed an update today that only asks for the permission to access files created by this app. you can narrow the current permissions down by disconnecting mindmup from your drive web site, then re-connecting it.

Increase/Decrease Font of Knot and/or Branch
This is very helpful to highlight areas of importance in a visual way.
29 votesthis is now supported using the new drawing engine, which allows users to define default sizes, colors, fonts etc for nodes. For more info, see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
we plan to work on this feature more over the next month and reduce the dependency on CSS. At the moment, styling the map requires a bit of CSS knowledge.

Increase or decrease the size of nodes relative to each other
Sometimes it would be helpful to describe relationships for parent nodes or key ideas to be represented by larger nodes than derivative or "child" nodes or ideas. Increasing or decreasing the size of the boxes relative to each other would be a good way to represent that relationship conceptually.

Auto-save Maps
Using Google docs and a wide variety of other cloud services gets one used to the auto-saving feature of many of them. I have not been able to figure out how to get MindMup to autosave my maps as I work on them with enough frequency to save my work should the client crash, as it has done a few times. Please either implement auto-saving, or at least increase its frequency (I know it does some auto-saving)
1 votethis is already done. there are two types of autosaves:
1) most maps autosave to browser storage, to provide for offline work and to prevent network latency problems. in case the browser dies, just load the same map again and you’ll be offered to load local changes.
2) maps autosave to google drive using the google realtime API if you create a collaborative map. You can convert any map into a collaborative one by loading up the Realtime Collaboration extension and selecting Collaboration → Start from the main menu.
both these autosaves are on every change.

plugin framework to extend mindmup
It would be nice to be able to add new widgets and features - something similar to this ruby plugin framework - http://thomasjo.com/20
1 votemindmup already has a plugin framework. collaboration, github, straight lines and the upcoming dropbox integration are all plugins. what exactly are you thinking of creating?

Not have to remember to press "Save"
Being an avid user of google docs & spreadsheets & similar web services, I was surprised that I have to continuously press "Save" on mindmup. I'd much prefer to have it auto-save in the background without me having to worry about it. Since you have undo/redo, the save button feels redundant.
1 voteThis is already supported for the use cases when it makes sense (google drive). See http://blog.mindmup.com/p/auto-saving.html for more info

I would like it had icon support in the node. This would make easy mark ideas as done, important, etc.
I guess that 5 or 6 good icons would be good. For me the important ones would be the "completed icon" (maybe a green V), the attention (maybe an yellow exclamation), an incompleted or impossible idea (some red icon, maybe a X or perhaps just a red circle), original idea (a lamp, maybe).
151 votesyou can now add images to nodes. we don’t have a standard icon library, but you can just drag and drop any image into a node and it will become an icon. http://blog.mindmup.com/p/images-and-icons-in-nodes.html

Save Space
Smaller bubble cell padding, smaller bubble separation, no bubble on level 2 child nodes. WHY: screen fills too fast. This would work best along with the moved-nodes-don't-snap-back reorganization idea also implemented.

Changelog for recent changes (useful for collaborations)
So that I can see what my collaborators have done in the mindmup. Would also be helpful for one personally to see one's own changes to maybe jump back to an earlier version.
1 voteuse github for this. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/07/mind-maps-with-proper-version-control.html

export attachments (text)
I like to use the export of Mindmup, but it do not support the export of attachments (text) ... could it be possible to support this also?
/Mark19 votesMindmup 2.0 now supports exporting notes into tab-indended text outlines and word documents. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZqv9aBVUo
If you’re using Google drive, you can access 2.0 from https://drive.mindmup.com – otherwise, see https://app.mindmup.com for 2.0 without Google Drive

please add option to change background color
please add option to change background color
1 votethat is already supported. There is a color icon in the toolbar (first column, bottom, just above “Extensions”) and you can also activate that from the keyboard using shift+space. Were you thinking of something different?

save to dropbox
Would like to be able to save to dropbox. Google drive is nice but Still dropbox is more popular, I think. It has an API so should be possible to add. I don't want to use different online drives for ever (I do it now: Google drive, SkyDrive, Dropbox and even owncloud) but in the long rund I'd love to decide and then have maps and other documents in one place only.
26 votesdropbox integration is now available as an extension at http://www.mindmup.com – I’ll publish some documentation about it next week but it should be pretty intuitive as it is.

Draw lines more directly between nodes
Can you make Mindmup draw lines more directly between nodes. At the moment I can see the structure of small maps but larger maps become hard to understand because lines between nodes start from the middle of the source node's edge and overshoot the destination node, curving back towards it.
14 voteswe’ve done an extension that draws completely straight lines. go to extensions→straight lines, that should do the trick of managing larger maps.
the visual plugin that allows customisation of line types and node types is a good idea but it’s a separate thing, so I suggest submitting a new idea for that and we’ll put it to a vote

User control of node aspect ratio
so that users can tune each (mutli-line) node to be either: long and thin; or short and fat, thus optimising use of screen area/printouts.
