What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

When using the Atlas or a read-only version of a map from the archive or embed codes, can we access some basic map controls (zoom, search etc)

Node Type and Attributes
Great tool....
One thing that I would like to be able to do is to create my own node types and link them together. Currently we can only link one type of node, but if we could create our own node types then we could link various type of nodes together which would carry more structured information.
For example Course -> Class -> Times
And also, being able to add a list of key value pair attributes on each node. Which can allow for semi-structured data to be stored against each node.
for example, a Question node, could have attributes…

Enhanced "Connect to another node"
Either allow "Connect to another node" to have bi-directional arrows showing mutually dependent premises, or offer a non-arrowed node connecting line.

Different types and styles of connecting lines
The one way arrow is a bit limiting for my purposes.
Could there be two way arrows?
Different styles of line other than straight and dotted?
Text that follows the path of a line to add clarification to a connection?
Textured lines?
Lines that can split and fork off to multiple nodes?3 votes -
Have nodes branch off in any direction including above or below parent
Currently, I can only place a child node to the left or right of its parent.
I then have to commit to branching off in that direction.
For my purposes, it would be useful to branch off in different directions including directly above or below the parent node.3 votes -
Recognisable form in word documents (such as google docs) (Importing docs/word format recognised)
Current situation:
I write up what I want to mind map into a word document (Google docs or word), and then write up this in a mind map
Amendment:
A structure or table that mind map can recognise, be copied in and will automatically generate a mind map
Advantages:
Ideas can be written down the first time into an acceptable format, and mind map is just re expressing in a more visual way. It would save so much time, and be really awesome
Why can I not just write straight into mind map:
Safe copy in word first, more flexible…3 votes -
Create node from table
Hi Team
It is great to know and apply Mindmup. The app is very smart and useful.
- I just want to add 1 more function: table import, export or visualize Why should we have this function: Mindmup is the best app to brainstorm and discuss. But after that our team always have to export it as text, and then manually put it into table for presentation and storage (For ex: excel file). With large app, it is really cost a lot of time for admin task.
Thank you for your support

Find nodes by stickers
When using stickers as tags, like parked, flagged, important, etc.. in a big mindmap I would like to be able to locate them fast so that we can focus on those.

open/close the entire tree with one click
Hi
I love your powerful soft !
I am a 40 years old student and I use MindMup to write notes during my courses.
Before I was using FreeMind.
But I needed a cloud tool….
I want to test your gold version during a moment.
I have bought it today. One essential functionality seems missing ! Really !!!
I would like to open all the entire tree easily. And close it immediately also. Purpose concerns pdf export that is at the same level than the tree visible on the screen… I would like to open the entire tree with one…

Rapid node creation
Next to "Insert Child Node" button add "Insert Multiple Child Nodes". When clicked, display a modal text area.. On click of OK on modal, create a node for each line in the text area. Similar request to: "Create Rapid Brainstorming List" ...but simpler: no drag-and-drop needed.. This would both speed creation of maps, and help guide planning / brainstorming: "For X, what are all the things we'd need to consider?" Select node X, type a list, and have the nodes added. Then repeat for additional nodes as needed.

Support Mindmup in private teams in Microsoft Teams
For security reasons we create only private teams in Microsoft Teams.
But Mindmup 2 does not support private teams - adding Mindmup to such team/channel ends with error message:
“Private channels not supported”
Please support it.3 votes -
Describe font size using numerical scale
It'd be great if we could set (and check) node font size based on a numerical scale like for example in MS Word. Currently there is no way to objectively determine what is the current font size of a node and how it does refer to another node. Numerical values could help with it.

Add an option to change the opacity for node background colors
Being able to change the opacity of the node colors is such a small thing, but it would finally allow designing way prettier mind maps.

Accessibility issues - colorblindness
Addition of a colorblind mode in order to quickly change how we organize the maps.
Ability to edit fonts and sizes in line labels for potential reading difficulties.
Also, incorporate an automatic text-to-speech features for argument visualization stating reasoning or objections.3 votes -
Make Mindmup Argument Visualisation a plugin to chatGPT.
The user enters an argument into ChatGPT and it is converted to an argument map in mindmup. This would be great for analysing arguments, checking their logical strength, looking for unstated assumptions, etc. The alternative is to have a assistant in Mindmup, to help users with argument Visualisation. There is an existing Chat GPT plugin called Show Me Diagrams that does a decent job already, but Mindmup would be much better.

Automatically Taper Line Thickness Organically from Fat to Thin like a tree
I find it much easier to read maps when the lines taper in thickness from fat to thin organically like a tree does - trunk, then branches, then twigs. Doing this automatically not manually is also pretty essential because of the intensive labour of editing individual nodes in a huge map. (There are several mindmapping software options which offer this feature with varying degress of success, (iMindmap / Ayoa do it nicely but have so many other problems.) I would love it if reliable Mindmup could introduct his feature.)

Ability to add previews of any link, not only drive files and to insert tasks, events, and Keep notes
Actually I link nodes to calendars and Keep notes by link, but It will be wonderful to preview this links like drive documents, without open a new tab and abandon the mindmap

Create auto graded argument mapping problems
Perhaps give students a set of disconnected boxes that they organize into a sensible argument map. Ideally automatically check against instructor supplied solution. If it doesn’t match, students could re-work the solution. Could greatly increase amount of basic argument mapping practice students could have access to without waiting for instructor feedback. Obviously only useful for basic/artificial maps but such practice is good for more complicated mapping.
