What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  2. Have a palette of formatted nodes we can customize (color, border, text)

At a minimum, current colors palette needs to be customizable. The current color palette is not much usable given color choices. The alternative of having to give hex color code for each node is unpractical. Defining themes helps but is limited and does not work on nodes that have been modified already. This might be extended into a new palette of customizable node formats (a bit like one can define styles in word)

  3. Floating keyboard shortcuts

Would be nice to be able to bring up the shortcut window on the same screen rather then a redirect to a page. Much like the floating menu window

  4. Add a '?' hotkey that brings up a help popup, similar to GMail

In GMail one gets a great popup w/ all of the hotkeys by pressing '?'. It's a great way to lookup a hotkey without taking your hands from the keyboard

  5. Insert Tab

I would appreciate an insert tab where I can add features to my map that I can not access in Mindmup, but can elsewhere. I would especially appreciate being able to insert a graph or table from a spreadsheet.

    Example of an Insert Tab

    Insert Tab
    -From Google Drive
    **
    -Task (for a to-do list)
    -Image
    -From file
    -Google Image search

    **
-Take you to your Google Drive; select document; select portion of doc. to insert into Mindmup)
-Allow changes made to portion of selected document to change across both Drive and Mindmup

  6. Save to Non-Github git repository

Save to a git repository with specifying URI "git://~~~".

I want to save a mindmap to a non-Github git repository. Because Github private repository is not free. Git is not only Github.

  7. Facilitate use of mindmup for agile story writing

Each box is a story. Each attachment is a summary of conversations and outline of acceptance criteria or list of simple tasks. Option to print off individual box and attachment as a story and conversation. Introduction of box numbering, and improvement of printing to allow better text files to be loaded as data into Excel to allow pivot tables in Excel. These steps could be added as a feature presented as a "Backlog" of stories output.

  9. Turn off "auto-arrange"

so that we can arrange maps in a way that makes the most sense based on how we use the map.

  10. Show multiple measures on map

It would be a great visual aid to be able to see multiple measures at the same time on the map.

Let's say we have Business Value, Effort, Cost as measures.

That would give a nice overview of where to put the money and not.

  11. Offer geometric shapes for node bubbles - if the topic has three important points, use a triangle and attach children to the points.

Three points = triangle / four points = rectangle, square / five points = star and so on. Allow 'children' to be placed at the appropriate position to make that point. This is visually quicker to read and remember. Also, please allow horizontal / landscape format for the page design.

  13. Hiding the main lines

Sometimes, the main lines (between the central idea and the children) are useful at the begining of the process, but later other relationships (represented by dashed or solid lines) become much more significant. I think it would be very useful to be able to hide these lines, enhancing the visualization of the meaningful connections.

  14. Attachments: Tables and Edit image Size

Hey, great job with MindMup - I use it all the time!

I was wondering though if you have plans to enhance the text editor for attachments? it would be great to add tables to my notes and resize images. Just some basic functionality would be great. Any plans to do something like this?

Thanks, and keep up the great work!
    Joe

  15. The ability to export as a .pdf that retains hyperlinks within text boxes.

I have a few embedded hyperlinks in my nodes that I think should be included in the exporting to .pdf's or .pptx.

  16. Connect collapsed nodes

The connection shared between two sibling or unrelated nodes migrates up the hierarchy as a parent node is collapsed. The connection migrates back to the child node when the parent node is expanded.

  17. Show all connections for one node

It would greatly help analysis to be able to toggle a view that focuses on only the nodes connected to a given node. Graying out all the other nodes, or having the map re-arrange itself to place the selected node in the center as if it were the parent node. It should show ALL of that node's connections (standard & alt-clicked).

  18. Full Node attachment support for iOS app

Fully Supporting attachments for the iOS app would be extremely useful, especially in situations where users do not have access to an Internet connection or to specific web services, such as when they happen to be in China where Google and many other internet based services are blocked witout a working VPN. Even if users import a mindmup mind map containing attachments to the iOS app, the icons for attachments appear, but they cannot be viewed. Not very user friendly to offer icons for features that can't be used.

Currently the app is more like a mind map prototyper, lacking…

  19. lasso select

Let click+drag form a "lasso" by which multiple nodes can selected (like in virtually all file managers and other applications).

Moving could go to Ctrl+drag or so.
