What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Buy rights to standalone Mindmup for a fixed fee, with .pdf export capability, then purchase updates and new cool stuff from you a la carte.

I'd like to be able to purchase a standalone (current chrome app would qualify) version of mindmup - as long as it included the ability to export to PDF. I would pay between in the $10-15 range for this

Yes, right now I can just screenshot the map and patch it together in paint software, but that doesn't scale.

Many folks, like myself, would prefer to purchase the software as it sits right now vs a monthly subscription.

Thanks for making a great application, hope this suggestion helps.

  2. Rename measures

Once you create them, there is currently no way to change the name. I created a mind map, started a budget category that I realized was too specific and wanted to change it, but there is no way to do so as it now stands. Should be a simple fix...

  4. Restore the Ctrl+Shift+V "Paste Formatting" (+ Lines Too)

    1. The Ctrl+Shift+V "Paste Formatting" feature has been removed or disabled--please restore it. Ensure that it works for MM2 using Google Drive maps.

    2. Additionally, allow "Paste Formatting" for lines as well.

  5. Storyboard exporting notes as body text (Word) or presenter text (PPT)

Storyboard only exports topic title as Heading 1. Would be nice if Storyboard also exported note data and links (as references, i.e. ref: https://www.alfasoft.com). This would be very usefull when usind Mindup as a writer tool (outlining tool), and also as a presentation tools (getting the needed speaker notes into my PPT presentation).

  7. May MindMup become integrated with Samepage dot io

I am in the process of creating an online membership community for international graduate engineering students in the USA.

They understand basic English so we can use Mindmup and other tools to collaboratively create educational modules.

We will publish these using Creative Commons while allowing for adaptations and commercial uses. Therefore anyone can translate these into their native language. They can make edits, revisions, and any other way to engage with their audiences online and offline.

I have outgrown my task management system. My search for one that is large and flexible led me to Samepage dot io. There are…

  10. Ground nodes so they dont move, customize minimum spacing requirements

I can control the density of my map. Also, everytime i make a small adjustment, all my node placement gets thrown off which is annoying

  12. Navigate your mind map with a minimap

Create a squared minimap attached to any of the corners, allowing us to see the entirety of the mindmap and our current position in it at all times. Then simply make it clickable, transporting the user to the area clicked on the minimap.

  13. In argument visualisation, offer orange as a third 'colour' edge for rebuttals.

An objection to an objection is a rebuttal. At the moment you simply have objections coloured red and objections to those objections also red.

In order to make the inferential structure easier to visualise you could offer rebuttals as an alternative orange-coloured edge. (This idea is borrowed from Rationale.)

Straight lines would help with listing points leading on to each other below each node.

  16. freemind / freeplane compatibility mode

I have seen that freemind / freeplane compatibility was already taken into account: https://mindmup.uservoice.com/forums/200447-what-should-we-focus-on-next/suggestions/4128495-use-the-same-hotkeys-as-freeplane-and-freemind-so

We are heave users of freeplane and I would suggest "freeplane compatibility mode" to keyboard shortcuts.

Some things that I have noticed right away:
in freeplane spacebar is used to fold/unfold trees and F2 is used to edit the content of the node (in mindmup both spacebar and f2 edits),
    - shortcuts like ctrl-b (bold) in freeplane work also when you don't edit - this is very nice as you don’t need to enter edit mode/select - you just press ctrl-b and whole node is bolded.

  17. Ability to move a Node to a new page and it connects to the original.

This would help with creating a project overview and then moving to the finer details. I would like to start a central map, but I may need to take a branch and expand it on a separate page for easier use and collaboration. It would be nice to be able to take a branch to a new page but it would link back to the parent page.

  18. import/export RDF

I think the Mind Map could be useful to represent some RDF graph as well, so it would be interesting to be able to import/export from/to RDF.

  19. Connection measurement (strength, length, value)

If switched on, the user will be able to give each connection a value, and depending on that value, the connection line will be longer or shorter. This will enable contextual connections: for example, if the mindmap captures project dependencies, those lines will be used to show the length of time that the child of a node will take to be completed.

  20. Assign team member's avatar to a node

When working in teams, it would be good to be able to assign a team member to a task, i.e. by adding the team's member avatar to the node to show who is working on what.... like they do it in Trello

Having said that, rather than having a whole team and team members model implemented, having a way to generally tag a node with a small picture would be really useful. When editing the map, one can then simply choose a team member's mugshot for instance.
