What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Every new bubble is a different color
Every 'layer' of bubble is a different color.
18 votesMindMup now makes it easier to manage large maps with a new theme, called Productivity, which automates font sizing and colors for children and branches. Here’s a demo of how it works: https://youtu.be/BtDtAWPJUhA
To activate the theme, just select “View > Map Theme > Productivity” from the application menu.

Redefine the central node
The forced hierarchy from the first node makes it difficult to understand the relationships between subnodes. What if the first node later turns out not to be the 'central' idea and another node should be the central idea? How can we change the layout of the map to reflect this?
24 votesyou can now add multiple roots, disconnect nodes and float them, and manage multiple maps in the same file on mindmup 2.0.

BUG: Allow for editing of "dotted line" connections (Alt+click) in multi-connection scenario
BUG? When creating connection (Alt+click) between multiple nodes to a common node, only the last connection made may be selected/edited.
i.e. nodes "1", "2", "3", "4", "5" are all connected (in sequence) to node "A" via (Alt+click). If you want to select/edit the connection (dotted line) between nodes "3" and "A", you can't select it. Instead, you must delete connection between node "A" and nodes "5" & "4" in order to select the connection between node "A" and "3".
4 votessorry for a delayed response, hand’t noticed this task due to low number of votes. this should work much better now, and you should be able to select individual connections. a small highlight will show which connection you’re going to edit when you hover the mouse pointer over a line, so you know better what will be done

Make collaboration easier by better integration with the Google Docs collaboration tools
Presently it is a bit combersome to collaborate with the collaboration extension. It would be so nice if it could just work like with Google Docs: everybody who has permission can edit simultaniously.
One of the MindMup explanation pages states it nicely this way: "We have lots of interesting ideas for improving the collaboration workflow, and the end-game, we hope, is completely merging collaboration into normal google drive maps, so that collaboration requires no specific set-up or extension loading, and that collaborative maps no longer have the limits imposed by the Google Realtime API (10MB limit per map). This would…

Export/Import map as xml/json file.
For example, I have a data structure that I want to display as a map. Currently, I have to do it manually. It would be nice if I could save my data structure in some xml/json format and import it to mindmup. An export case I would also like to have.
3 votesthe native .mup format is pure JSON. Just export to MindMup format (File→Export) and you’ll get a JSON

orthogonal lines
When you have got a large Mindmap with nodes that have a lot of child nodes you get problems with the clarity.
The straight line extension does a lot for more clearity but the inclined lines still seem kind of messy.
Straight and orthogonal lines as an additional option would make large mindmaps clearer, especially when some nodes have a lot of chilld nodes that are on the same level.30 votesuse view→map theme→simple and you’ll get almost rectangular lines that make larger maps easier to comprehend

Controlling the width of each node
Some nodes have more text inside them and would look better if the width could be adjusted as needed. Maybe something similar to the way images can be resized in microsoft word. Click and drag to the desire size.

It would be great to see a "snap" feature so that some of the main items would line up horizontally or vertically.

Having the possibility to add detached blocks
Adding blocks not connected to the main idea but floating anywhere the users want to put in on the screen. By extension it would be interesting to create more that one tree on one page.

Personal brainstorming session.
Allow many floating nodes. Allow attachments to the nodes to elaborate on the ideas. Possibility to link them later.
5 voteshi,
sorry for the late response, I didn’t notice this when responding to similar items a while ago. MindMup has supported many disconnected floating nodes for a while now (since November 2017), with the possibility to connect them later. Check out https://www.mindmup.com/news/2017/09/08/concept-maps.html for more information.

Use google web fonts in CSS styling
We can change font sizes but by using the area of free fonts on offer via google web fonts we can easily customize our maps to have greater impact and different node levels different font styles and sizes.
1 voteyou should be able to do this with custom css styling anyway. see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html for more information.

Fold/Unfold Maps by "Level"
different nodes branching from the center, have different numbers of children or depth i.e. more or less children. Would like a command to expand "level" by level where a level is all nodes at level 1 or level 2, ... level N. (the center is level 0)
This is analogous to a file explorer. This feature provides good overviews especially as maps expand their complexity.3 votesyou can do this already. press a number on the keyboard (eg 2 to select all level 2 nodes) and then press F to fold/unfold
