What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

A dedicated smartphone app.
An smartphone (iPhone, Android) application able to edit mindmup on the road offline.
382 votesMindMup for iOS devices is now available for general use – we’re taking the Beta marker off, because we finally ensured that users of the mobile app are as productive as when using the desktop app.
For more info about the mobile app, and to install it on your iOS device, see http://discover.mindmup.com/mindmup-for-ios

6 votesmindmup has an api through mapjs→mapModel and mapjs→content objects. have a look at github.com/mindmup/mapjs/

I would like to have the posibility of starting more "rootparents" in the same map
When in planing mode of a structure, I often get the ideas in an unsorted way. To keep them, it would be great to have the possibility to put them on the map immediately including som child nodes and afterward just have to connect them to the main structure in an reasonably way.
508 votesyou can now add multiple roots, disconnect nodes and float them, and manage multiple maps in the same file on mindmup 2.0.
If you use google drive, use https://drive.mindmup.com
if you use free storage or Gold storage, use https://app.mindmup.com

Option to set default connection style
It would be nice if I could set the default style of the connection line to something other than red and dotted I have multiple connection lines and it gets tedious to change every single one individually.
20 voteswe’ve changed the default style now to something much more sensible. it is a neutral color and has an arrow, as this is what most of the interviewed users ended up changing it to anyway.

hyperlink direct on the node
It is extra effort (friction) to open a note/attachment on a node then insert a link. Could we just attach a hyperlink directly on the node itself. Less clicks to add hyperlink and less clicks to access.
1 votethis is already done: http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/03/hyperlinks-in-nodes.html

Automatic colors of the children nodes
I would like to colorize the children nodes according to their parent, unless I specify the colo for the node myself. The color could fade into transparent, or white by some value in every level from parent. Example:
Node1 - red (specified by me)
Node1.1 - lighter red (not specified)
Node1.1.1 - more lighter red (not specified)
Node1.2 - green (specified)
Node1.2.1 - lighter green (not specified)
Node1.2.2 - brown (specified)
etc..the idea came up from bubbl.us but without color transition

Allow Comments and labeling
Allow comment along with attachment. So a quick detail about the node can be seen without opening the attachment.
Allow labeling node connector line.79 votesthe labeling part of this idea is now done. just click on a connection and you can set the text.

Make it look more like a real mindmap to improve readibility
Main suggestions:
- text on the branches itself instead of in boxes
- (automatically) have branches and text in same color96 votesthis is now supported using the new drawing engine, which allows users to define default sizes, colors, fonts etc for nodes, with the support for defaults for levels as well. For more info, see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
we plan to work on this feature more over the next month and reduce the dependency on CSS. At the moment, styling the map requires a bit of CSS knowledge.

font formatting
It would be good to have the option of formatting font and changing size.

plugin framework to extend mindmup
It would be nice to be able to add new widgets and features - something similar to this ruby plugin framework - http://thomasjo.com/20
1 votemindmup already has a plugin framework. collaboration, github, straight lines and the upcoming dropbox integration are all plugins. what exactly are you thinking of creating?

Not have to remember to press "Save"
Being an avid user of google docs & spreadsheets & similar web services, I was surprised that I have to continuously press "Save" on mindmup. I'd much prefer to have it auto-save in the background without me having to worry about it. Since you have undo/redo, the save button feels redundant.
1 voteThis is already supported for the use cases when it makes sense (google drive). See http://blog.mindmup.com/p/auto-saving.html for more info

Paste from another application
Copy a list of items (seperated by linebrake?) from a text editor.
Paste as siblingsExtended functionality could take into consideration tabbed items as childs. Or support copy of nestet bullet lists.
Why: I often com a across lists other people make which I want to include in my mind maps
53 votesyou can now create maps by pasting from spreadsheets, bullet points in word, and tab separated text. check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCLpvyRXrh0 for a demo

Add connection direction
Add the ability to use directional connectors

Auto-save Maps
Using Google docs and a wide variety of other cloud services gets one used to the auto-saving feature of many of them. I have not been able to figure out how to get MindMup to autosave my maps as I work on them with enough frequency to save my work should the client crash, as it has done a few times. Please either implement auto-saving, or at least increase its frequency (I know it does some auto-saving)
1 votethis is already done. there are two types of autosaves:
1) most maps autosave to browser storage, to provide for offline work and to prevent network latency problems. in case the browser dies, just load the same map again and you’ll be offered to load local changes.
2) maps autosave to google drive using the google realtime API if you create a collaborative map. You can convert any map into a collaborative one by loading up the Realtime Collaboration extension and selecting Collaboration → Start from the main menu.
both these autosaves are on every change.

Narrow Google Drive permissions
Current permissions gives to much access. Able to read and delete all files on my Google Drive is far reaching.
20 voteswe pushed an update today that only asks for the permission to access files created by this app. you can narrow the current permissions down by disconnecting mindmup from your drive web site, then re-connecting it.

Changelog for recent changes (useful for collaborations)
So that I can see what my collaborators have done in the mindmup. Would also be helpful for one personally to see one's own changes to maybe jump back to an earlier version.
1 voteuse github for this. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/07/mind-maps-with-proper-version-control.html

Increase/Decrease Font of Knot and/or Branch
This is very helpful to highlight areas of importance in a visual way.

Arbitrary position and grouping of the nodes
To be able to position some nodes farther away from it's parent.
Ability to put a boundary (with label) around nodes to create a collapsible group.145 votesThis is now available at www.mindmup.com, see an example at:
http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/09/use-shiftdrag-to-manually-position-nodes.htmlWe’d love to hear your feedback on the solution, please let us know by sending an e-mail to contact@mindmup.com or leaving a comment here.
