What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Better choice of background colors
Background colors in current color map are mostly very dark, while light colors are much more suitable for highlighting bubbles, because they have enough contrast with the black text and don't distract too much.
Also the current color map has no saturation choices - only one given color with given (high) saturation.
A color map similar to modern Excel or Google Docs color maps would be a big improvement.5 votesyou can define your own styling, including background colours. see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html

Increase screen real estate when selecting View - Auto Hide menu
When you select View - 'Auto Hide menu' the menu disappears but there is still a white band at the top of the screen where the menu was. If this band disappeared as well there would be more screen area for the maps, particularly when using full screen mode (F11).

Add votes to nodes
I would like the ability to add votes to a node and have them visible when viewing the map (perhaps as dots).
This would be great as we're using MindMup for Impact Mapping. At the moment we add numbers to the node text to represent the votes as a workaround.

Add support for multiple Google drives.
I use several Google drives which works well though Chrome, my own personal and two different Google drives belonging organizations I work with. My personal Google account is the default, and opening Mindup docs from my personal drives works well, but when I try to open a Mindmup stored an another drive, the Mindmup app lanches but tries to open the map using my default credetials which fails, not with the credential from the drive where it's actually stored.
17 votesmindmup 2.0 now supports multiple google drives. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2015/10/mindmup-20-is-now-ready.html for more info

offline Chrome App - ability to open multiple instance of the application
It would be great to have the possibility to open more than
one instance of the offline application,
in order to be able to work on more than one map concurrently.1 votethe latest version of the offline app allows you to open multiple windows to work on several maps concurrently

Save Warning For Google Docs
A warning display if you try to save to google docs when the map has been updated by another user.
I know we have the real time API, but in my context lots of people could open and make a small change.
So while I know there wouldn't be anything mindmup could do to say "merge" them, extensive, but perhaps a warning? Something like:
"Richard has made changes since you opened the map, saving now will overwrite there work, proceed?"
Potentially possible if Google API shows a last updated time, you could store and call upon when saving?
1 votemindmup 2.0 is autosaved and supports concurrent use, so there is no need to show warnings – it’s automatically resolved. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2015/10/mindmup-20-is-now-ready.html for more info.

Line breaks should be retained after editing.
Currently all the line breaks are lost as soon as the editing is done. This makes it impossible to have node with multiple lines in it.
I usually use it to jot down bullet points form meetings.
1 votethis should already work if you use shift+ enter to create a new line. if it does not, please contact us by e-mail (contact@mindmup.com) so we can troubleshoot

offlineApp - very simple feature - reload from file
+1 for a simple "reload from file" feature,
a shortcut that combine "new map"+"open/import from local file(the same file)" would be great.
I'm using a local script to modify the map and it would be nice to easily and quickly apply the changes.1 votethis should now be available, we deployed a new version of the offline app this morning

Add a node and (selected?) children to storyboard as a single node
A common arrangement in my maps is for a subtree to represent a bulleted list. The parent is the topic / header of the slide, and each child node is a bullet point. If a node fits the pattern (one or more children, no "grand"children), then building a slide like this would be very handy.
1 votethis is now done. see http://discover.mindmup.com/storyboards#starting for more info

Export mind map into an outline format
Viewing a mind map graphically is wonderful, but many times when i have a completed map, I want the ability to export it to an outline format that I can share with a team. Mind Manager allows this although it is not implemented very well. The outline could be exported to an RTF format, etc.
3 votesExport to text and html (File→Export) creates an outline. the text export is tab indented so it can be loaded easily into any spreadsheet processing tool. html preserves most of the formatting, so that would be the RTF equivalent.

Vertical tree LIST view with expandable/collapsible nodes for better mobile readability
I mainly use mind maps to organize my short term and long term tasks and goals. Unfortunately my maps aren't easy to review on a phone screen. I think an alternate view of a map would be very useful which only slows the parent node and the first set of children nodes in textual list view with plus signs. Clicking on any row will expand/collapse that node. This would make it much easier to review maps from a mobile.
9 votesmindmup 2.0 now supports vertical layouts

Faster loading of maps
At this moment, MindMupMaps on Google drive are slow to load. In itself, the feature to store on Google Drive is brilliant. However, the maps take very long to load, even when the maps have only about ten items. I would like to avoid having to wait for a map to open.
This happens both with the previous engine, and with the current BETA engine.
* loading Google API (90 sec)
* authenticating with Google (60 sec)
* Connecting to Google Drive Realtime
* etc.
total loading time: 3-5 minutes9 votesmindmup 2.0 loads all scripts at once and should be much faster to load maps. see mindmup 2.0 now supports multiple google drives. see http://blog.mindmup.com/2015/10/mindmup-20-is-now-ready.html for more info for more info

Improved readability: Children automatic colors and different sizes
In order to make the Mind maps more readable I would recommend to add automatic colors to every new node departing from the central topic.
This is currently doable manually but it requires extra time (especially on big maps), while adding automatic random colors to any new "parent node" and respective children would make jotting new ideas faster and more understandable at a glance.
On a similar note I would also suggest to increase the size of the central node and the parent nodes. The original mind map theory states in fact that it's important to add some visual clues…295 votesMindMup now makes it easier to manage large maps with a new theme, called Productivity, which automates font sizing and colors for children and branches. Here’s a demo of how it works: https://youtu.be/BtDtAWPJUhA
To activate the theme, just select “View > Map Theme > Productivity” from the application menu.

Spreadsheet Cells that link across nodes ;)
Add spreadsheet cells to a node.
Use simple SUM functions
Allow them to be added to each other.1 voteok, so if it’s just the case of not knowing the feature was there, i’m glad we helped :) I’ll close this idea then.
the github source you want is http://github.com/mindmup/mindmup

Allow people to paste in bullet points that automatically become siblings all connecting to the original's parent
If I paste in a bullet point list from a Google Doc Document (for example) into a box then it will become separate boxes for each bullet point (siblings) all linked to the parent.
14 votesyou can now create maps by pasting from spreadsheets, bullet points in word, and tab separated text. check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCLpvyRXrh0 for a demo

ChromeOS MindMup App
I would like to be able to use MindMup offline on my Chromebook. I can currently install MindMup as an extension which is nice, however I have to connect to the internet to load MindMup (while it downloads the JS files I imagine) then I can continue to use it without the internet and save to local browser storage. So option to load offline would be great and perhaps save to local storage.
105 votesWe have a new chrome app for offline work – most of the features are already there and we’ll add the rest during the next few weeks: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/mindmup-desktop-free-mind/eealagocaipaflcjmeapmobpmilffopi

Faster, more responsive maps (via display options)
Response during map navigation / drag is far from fluid (close to annoying / non-usable experience on large maps).*
Please give option to remove shadows and use basic (square) bubble around nodes if it would help.
(FireFox29/Intel i5 and small 100nods map from Freeplane).
9 votesthis is now supported using the new drawing engine, which uses hardware acceleration for better responsiveness but also allows users to define default sizes, colors, fonts etc for nodes. (so you can take out shadows etc). For more info, see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
we plan to work on this feature more over the next month and reduce the dependency on CSS. At the moment, styling the map requires a bit of CSS knowledge.

A little Node Variety, please.
Would u be so kind as to develop just a little node variety. Even just an option to remove the bubble on sub-tree nodes as well as a size option will suffice. please pretty please! I mean, I have more demands but we can start there. I would also prefer to test drive your Gold version for 3 days??? I gotta make sure it has what I want. My goal is to run my whole business in google drive, but I need optimization to my standards. That means, if it doesn't have what I want, I want you to add…
1 voteBen – you can change almost all visual aspects of any map, including setting default sizes, shapes and colors by level by using custom CSS styles – see http://blog.mindmup.com/p/custom-css-styling.html
regarding gold trials, gold does not give you any more functionality, just more capacity for PDF exports and embedded map hosting. There is no need for a trial, you can try out all the functions without gold on smaller maps as much as you want. If you end up needing more capacity for PDF exports or embeds, then register for Gold.

Improved document sharing: allow Straight Lines extension to apply to PDF exports.
When the Straight Lines extension is applied, straight lines are viewable in the browser. Once the map is exported to a PDF, however, the straight lines are not applied. This seems to be a technical bug rather than a new feature as the straight lines do apply to other export formats.
19 votesmindmup 2.0 works with straight lines and all sharing formats. 1.0 is going away soon so we will not update it. See http://blog.mindmup.com/2016/03/change-look-and-feel-of-mindmup-20-maps.html for more info on how to get straight lines with mindmup 2.0 in PDF
