adding pictures to nodes
WHY: sometimes a pictures tells more than a word :-)
this is now done. see here for info on how to use it: http://blog.mindmup.com/p/images-and-icons-in-nodes.html

I am in agreement with Mike. Mind-mapping is a visual experience, so I'd like the ability to visualize the "Big Picture" of my project/map using my own images with text as a label. Having the pictures hidden as attachments, to me, defeats the purpose, although I can see how some might want both options.
Pre-set icons would be nice, too, but I see that as a separate feature from the intent of this one.

I would love to be able to upload my own images or logos to use in the nodes... This in conjunction with the name of the node.

Yes, adding small icons/pics (smiley types, Flags, Nr. of Importance) would be great.

or a king of tempting "why", "how", "business rule" ...

yep. use of images (in my mind: useful both with and without text) seems to be the basic feature, being able to upload own image related but tangential feature.
example of own images being useful: "image notes" from lean coffee format meeting, as basis for rest of mindmap.

Both are good. The picture could be inserted by a link. So it would be hosted on phobucket or dropbox.
Having some library of stanard images(visual tags) is a good option too. -
ok, but are we then really talking about user-uploaded pictures, or perhaps some kind of annotations/visual tags on nodes? what if we had a library of annotations that you could apply to nodes? exclamation mark and similar stuff.

useful w/only picture example: for something where i'm considering con/pro, it would be useful to f.ex have only a smiley on one branch and only a "frownie" on the other - i.e., only images - this would replace need for text in this context.
useful w/ pic + text example: for something that's extra important it would be useful to f.ex add a red, big exclamation mark - but the text would still be needed in this context.

Ingvald - image + text shouldn't be a problem technically, the question is more is that better or worse than just image... can you give me an example where image+text would be really useful for you?

would be cool to be able to have a picture and/ or text, and if only a picture then that would be the whole node

good question; I think both ways are interesting; but I see it mainly as the node being a picture (I want the picture to speak for itselves instead of text)
-
should the node only be a picture, or should the picture complement the node? eg is a picture an attachment, or the entire node?
