Turn on autosave by default
Turn on autosave by default, as it is expected from online doc
To use fully functional autosave without having to turn anything on, just switch to using MindMup Cloud storage and do not use Google Drive to save maps any more. That is the only safe option we can offer currently.
The access level Google Drive allows third party apps (such as MindMup) makes autosave dangerous in many scenarios, as it might lead to data loss. This is why we require that users specifically turn it on. We know this is far from ideal, but unfortunately this is due to how Google decided to change their APIs for third party developers. If they offer a way to perform safe auto-save in the future, we will of course activate it.

You say "Auto-save is safe for single-user work only"
And also "it might lead to data loss."Is it because multiple users might overwrite each others' work? If so, I think this is a more rare use case than a single person forgetting to turn on autosave - which I can guarantee also leads to data loss.
Is this the only issue, or is it something else?
If it's a choice between two users overwriting each other; and one user never saving anything; I would choose to have autsave on as default and take the risk. Given you don't allow for live collaboration between two people, I think it's the lesser of two evils.
Please let me know if I'm misunderstanging.

So why is this not a feature ?
I get that you publish the question during editing, but why is not ON BY DEFAULT ? isnt this a cloud solution, where we are interacting with a cloud resource, and system. ?Like others below, you seem to be the only company now aligning with the benefit of online saving.
It is frustrating when I am editing, and something happens where I lose my edits because I did not Manually click autosave ...
Can you please elaborate the reason why ? is it a development issue ? is it an issue with resourcing ?

You seem to be the only third party not doing autosave... So I guess you either don't know the options others are using or maybe your security claim is more related to how you are connecting than Google's API.
Your app is great and this is extremely annoying. -
Auto-save is safe for single-user work only, and the UI mentions that quite clearly when you turn it on, which is why this needs to be an explicit action. For more information why, check out https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/google-realtime-deprecation-faq.html

So you're saying that it's dangerous to use autosave with Google Drive. The UI in Mindmup mentions nothing about this. If it's inherently unsafe, why do you support Google Drive at all?
This feels like a way to coerce me into using MindMup Gold cloud storage.

I'm gonna end my Gold subscription if this is not fixed soon. I've lost several maps after forgetting to click 'turn on autosave'. Please make this the default. Now.
