An error occurred while saving the comment Stuart Frost commentedOf course the same great, low friction editing and layout is there and just works as ever, but the rest is without doubt as basic as it comes.

Sorry if I did not adequately highlight the features I'm suggesting should be changed. This isn't a support issue.
(As an aside, I did a few months back contact support about having lost work due to this - at the time it was blamed on Google's API, but it is no longer the case. As it's clear the fault is not the API responsible for collaboration and persistence, I wanted to point out the unhelpful UI features that exacerbated the data loss then and now, as well as the gif that undermined my colleague's confidence in the product to the extent they questioned why I was using it.)
I'd like to see:
Better resolution of application states that put your data at risk and better UX to prevent data loss:
- stop editing, disable lossy features or warn while work is at risk
- reassure the user that the system quality is high (not a Star-Trek screenshot)
- don't imply that they are not somehow to blame (not a facepalm gif)
A pop up window that leaves you in some doubt about how to recover isn't good enough UX in this day and age.
