Allow users to insert a date/calendar entry into MindMup that syncs with google calendar. That way, when a user sees the calendar entry in the calendar they can click on the file and open the attached mindmup.24 votes

add stock icons similar to what XMIND has. it's pretty useful to have icons such as 1,2,3,4 to identify priorities. Smileys and flags are also useful indicators. The workaround now is to upload the images as the icons.262 votes
At the moment you are very limited in where you can place Parents and Children-Perhaps introduce a "free" mode where you can place the Parents and Children wherever you want without everything automatically altering68 votes
I already commented on some other idea in this forum with this, but I think this is really important. Many mind mapping tools are using so called notes view (node attachment in mindmup), but they are all doing it wrong. Maybe you think this is a bold statement, but with 15+ years of mindmapping experience I can assure you that notes (mindmup attachments) are integral part of any mindmapping/writing creative process. MindMap is visual way of structuring informations, but equally important is sequential (text) representation, which is after all final product of most export operations. The only software which is offering such approach is Inspiration software (http://www.inspiration.com/Inspiration) where you can switch between visually structured information (diagram/mindmap) and text(outline) representation. I would really like to have it side-by-side, but Inspiration will never implement this. So I strongly suggest to MindMup dev team to consider such outline view (or upgrade storyboard view, which is great) with content from node attachment. Please vote for this suggestion and make MindMup best mindmapping tool ever.

We just did an update for writing notes and text content in MindMup 2.0 that is, I believe, similar to this request. How far is what you’re asking for from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZqv9aBVUo
It would be great to have choices in how the mindmap is laid out. The vertical orientation of the current mind map makes it difficult to see the "whole map" if you are sharing it in a web meeting for insights (i.e., online retrospective). This could be accomplished by some of the other suggestions such as "emphasizing major nodes" and the current collapse/expand subtree feature.102 votes
Have the ability to place text box's anywhere on the map. For example, I color code nodes and would be nice to be able to place a legend on the map for others to understand what the colors mean.109 votes
It would be great if you had a function that allowed the mind map to auto format so that all nodes would auto-arrange to fit the screen/map. Currently when nodes are created you need to manually sort them around the centre point. This can take time and never looks accurate. Also would be helpful to be able to change the size of the nodes or the font size in them.44 votes
The current color palette is limited and not aesthetically pleasing. I'd love to be able to go to (for example) colourlovers.com and find a palette that I like, and apply that palette to my map.
A good start to this would be to add CSS classes for colors 1 - 35, eg: .mapjs-color-1, .mapjs-color-2, .mapjs-color-3, etc. The color chooser widget should then use these class names to apply the color instead of the explicit RGB code. Then I could grap the color codes from colourlovers and use that to create a new palette.70 votes
while this is getting votes, you can just press shift+space and type in a color name or enter the hex code to apply any color to a node, not just the ones in the palette
It would be really nice if we could link a node in mind map to another mind map with a relative path . eg if we have many mind maps in a folder ..
>Car=>Link to=> "car.mup"
Eg in above example if we could click on car and go a mindmap called car.mup somewhere in the folder . it would be a clean ,navigable and much more maintainable map. esp we are have huge maps.
Note : map files could be accessed using relative paths eg : ~/folder/folder/car.mup285 votes
Search box that highlight parts of the map containing the searched terms16 votes
Ability to filter which nodes are visible - based on status - eg don't show complete, or only show completed, or only show status > 10 etc84 votes
It would be great if we could format the bubble text like we can use bold, italic, underline, highliigher, different fonts and text color so that while revising the maps we can easily find what we are looking for.481 votes
Ability to create a linked Google Doc, eg. an indented bullet lists and or styled titles. Changing the map change the doc and vice versa.
The use case is : mapping the content of an article within MindMup and quickly jump to text editing without export / file management headache.44 votes
How about a "free" layout where nodes can be placed anywhere on the screen?305 votes
When creating mind maps they can become very large with lots of children nodes linking ideas. To help this problem it is really useful to dill down on a child node to create a sub-mindmap, in the sub-mindmap the child become the parent node in the centre, and all its child nodes are shown. This means you can create one large mind map and dill down onto set topics or area you are working on. A software called "xmind" does this but it doesn't link to google drive.
Keep up the good work guys :)224 votes
while this is getting votes, just a quick note that this is already available as a three-step process:
1) use ctrl+x (or cmd+x on mac) to cut a subtree
2) Use File→new from clipboard (potentially in a new mindmup window) to create a new map from the cut tree. Save it and copy the URL from the browser
3) paste the URL into the original map as a new node – this will link to the new map
I would like to be able to edit a mindmap and read all of the "directory paths" from a google sheet. For example:
The use case here is that I would like to be able to use this list in autocomplete validation, so a row in a spreadsheet could refer to a particular position in a taxonomy that is easily editable as a mindmap.38 votes
