What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Easier navigation with vim navigation
Love the Tab, write, Esc workflow for efficiently building up tree structures. What would perfect this navigation to me would be to support the h,j,k,l keys for navigating like in vim. On my machine I have Esc mapped to Caps Lock in this way I would be able to use mindmup using only the core parts of my keyboard. Might sound crazy but for people used to the vim workflow it makes all the difference. Having to jump to arrow keys for me is a complete disrupt in the workflow.

Import an other MindMup project in a node.
If it's a big project sometimes we create a lot of Mindmup files. Then if we want a unique Mindmup for the entire project it would be a great feature to integrate all the MindMup files in that new MindMup as new nodes. Here every nodes would be a MindMup files that we could extand with the shortcut "/" .
So the main interest is that in one file we got the entire project !42 votes -

Add images (by reference) from external web locations as opposed to embed/upload image
Give the chance to not load MindMup with embed images and allowing reference to external locations.
Furthermore, allow to manually edit the URL of external source.
3 votesbefore this starts getting votes, please note that default browser security settings mean that all such maps will break PDF export, image export, html export and probably a ton of other things. using external images from sites that do not allow cors creates a ‘tainted canvas’ (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/CORS_Enabled_Image)

while this is getting enough votes to be actionable – just a note to anyone interested that you can export a map to HTML or tab indented text (just open file→export), this will produce a nice outline, that you can actually load up in word or any text editor and just convert into an article

Mindmapping (Chrome) Bookmarks
Possibility to see existing Chrome bookmarks inside a (1 special) Mindmup map (name eg. MindBookmarks) via sidebar (like hotkeys bar) and copy/paste or drag/drop them into node/map.
Sidebar should show present bookmarks folder structure and after placing bookmark in map receive some visual or text sign (or tag) that it is placed in map. Folder/sub hierarchy should be equivalent to parent/children... Also if possible (if Google API allow) to be interactive, ie. if bookmark position (parent) is changed under bookmark folder to be simultaneously changed in map (vice versa).8 votes -
Send the text from some nodes to a cell phone app. "Mindmup ToDo"
A smartphone todo list that is syncd to tagged nodes on a mindmup map. I think that is a killer app. Certainly would be for me.
Please...android first if you do it.4 votes -
Allow user id and user/group right in collaborativ mode to enable specific bahaviour
If you build a project from this structure, you can need to protect some data from public view.
If you want something from collaborativ user, you need to detect this and make a feedback (ex : to know where users have add ideas, where is the mouse cursor, which nodes have been expand/collapse (or another action), etc.).I don't know if scripting could be used (or if develop each time something would be best).

Improved attachment editor
Attachment editor not covering all of the nodes.
Ability to edit attachments and nodes at the same time.
Make attachment editor either a floating window on top of nodes or docked under or next to the nodes.
Thanks

Better Documentation
This is a pretty good mindmap app. It beats freemind, perhaps not in features, but because it is online editable. However, as a developer and sysad, I can say that the documentation is abysmal. I can figure out how to use the user interface just by playing around and that's about the only documentation available. I'm interested in running mindmup standalone. There's no real Q&A forum, AFAIK. I'm not proficient in Ruby yet, so there's a problem. I have too many questions to get started, so this might not be the place. The documentation is abysmal and mindmup won't work…

A search function is required for both node names & their contents.
Batch commands for subtrees of central nodes & customisable groupings a.k.a select a few nodes and assign them a group number so you can expand or close them faster.

Recent maps
It would be handy to be able to see active links to the last few opened maps. Maybe they could be listed under the controls in the box?
I save everything to Google Drive.
Not sure if this could be implemented given all of the choices you have given us for storage....but it would be handy.0 votes -

Save to Non-Github git repository
Save to a git repository with specifying URI "git://~~~".
I want to save a mindmap to a non-Github git repository. Because Github private repository is not free. Git is not only Github.
7 votesalexxtasi – if gitlab has a sensible API that supports CORS, this shouldn’t be difficult to do. you should effectively reimplement https://github.com/mindmup/mindmup/blob/master/public/e/github.js

Aggregate numbers from child nodes
I really like the way Memofon lets you sum numbers up from child nodes (go to http://www.memofon.com/playground and select calculation from examples). I would love to be able to sum up units from nodes in MindMup, especially in conjunction with with Progress extension

layers
Incorporate the possibility of layers.
E.g. the same root node could have different children on different layers. [They could remain visible by having different levels of transparency (probably a max of 3 layers for clarity here?)] Thus the same root node could be explored in different contexts represented by the layers themselves.
One example (obviously users can create their own use-metaphors) might be that the root node represents a 'cause' with child nodes representing 'effects'. Different layers could show the effects of the root node "cause", given differing contexts- i.e. the cause has different effects in differing environments. However -…

Associating metadata with nodes to enable linear sorts and alternative layouts
Another user suggested alternative layouts like hierarchical views, but another layout that would be useful for me is a linear sort to be able to see nodes in order of when they were created/edited. This would require associating timestamp metadata with each node. I'm not sure if this is already done, but even if it is, being able to sort over this metadata would be awesome.
The suggestion for alternative layouts is here: http://mindmup.uservoice.com/forums/200447-what-should-we-focus-on-next-/suggestions/4126728-provide-alternative-outline-view

Replace ancestors with "..."
I would like to be able to replace all ancestors of a node with a special node. For example, I click on a grandchild, activate this feature, and the parent and grandparent disappear and are replaced with a single node that looks like "...", or something like that. This lets me focus on a small portion of a map.
