What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Shortcuts for templates and patterns
Create and apply patterns (like in Freemind). For reference, the shortcuts in FM are F1-F9, Ctrl + (F1-F9).

Make keyboard shortcuts similar to Google Docs & Word
Google Docs (Google Sheets) has a distinct set of key-board shortcuts. Mindmup uses the same shortcuts to different purposes.
E.g. Enter = Edit cell (both for Word and Google Docs). However, in Mindmup a New item is being generated.
With integration with MS office / Google Docs becoming ever more prominent, it would greatly simplify things if only one set of short-cuts is used.
It would be nice to, for example, add a template of short-cuts that is more in line with the shortcuts used by MS office and google docs.

Offer a "backlog" view
As a Product Owner I use the mind map to have an overall view of the feature of the product (mainly at the beginning of the project). In the case, each branch is considered as a user story.
However, the mind map is not able to show the priorization of the US in the backlog.
My wish is to offer a "backlog" view where each branch is a backlog item and the user can drag'n drop the item to prioritize them (and them group the item in sprints...)3 votes -
Elastic connections of variable strength that move the nodes to an efficient balanced position
This is to allow users to take multiple complex interrelated issues and have them self-position in logical related locations. This would simplify complex decision making.

Nodes -- Inserting Carriage Return - Use Alt/CR combination
When inserting a Carriage Return into a node you have to use the Shift/CR key combination. It would be more intuitive if this used the Alt/CR combination, similar to that used in spreadsheets.

Export Connected Lines in FreeMind
As far as a I can tell, connected lines do not export to FreeMind. I am using them a lot to show relationships between different ideas on the map, and would love to get them exported as well as the simple hierarchy.

Numeric formatting for measurements appearing on a node
When using the measurement feature, it would be nice to provide a way of formatting the data when it appears on a node. For example, specify 3 decimal places, or a leading currency symbol, etc.

Retain last navigated node
When arrowing down in the hierarchy and then back up - when you navigate back down follow the most resent route to the same nodes (if none then default to the top one)

option for a node to be a 3x3 grid
Not all ideas have a hierarchical structure. Some ideas consist of two or more dimensions that combine together, and neither can be considered the parent of the other. I would like to put these kinds of ideas inside my hiearchically structured mind map.
Maybe this could be an "extension" and have its menu or buttons up the top? So if I select a node, then I can click the button to turn that node into a 3x3 grid, and then I can enter text into any of the nine sections in the node. If I only want a 2x2 grid,…

Turn off "auto-arrange"
so that we can arrange maps in a way that makes the most sense based on how we use the map.

Allow display on non-linear frame (as hyperbolic)
Actually, it seems all nodes are equal. Whatever you navigate in tree, all is seen. When so many nodes exist (in big tree), it become hard to read something.
If you use a hyperbolic scale from the reading node, you can adjust what you read.
You can see this idea already in treebolic project.6 votes -
ability to centre screen on what is showing after collapsing some nodes
In a complex map I collapse many nodes while working on others, but when I try to centre the map it either centres on the root node or else centres as if nothing was collapsed. Either way, it's not as handy as it might be if it centred what was now showing.

Show/Hide children to focus or print a specific area like WorkFlowy does.
Combining this app with WorkFlowy would actually be awesome, like chocolate and peanut butter. But absent of that, would be great to click a +/- next to any parent to show/hide it.

Have an option to inhibit status propagation to parent nodes
I'd like to treat just a sub-tree, several generations(?) away from the master, as a task list. Everything else may be ideas, information or whatever I collect in my 'mup'.
But when I start updating nodes/tasks in my sub-tree, all the parents up to the top level are updated and changes color as well. I want to inhibit the status propagation from a selected node!8 votes -
Create new or open a map using a keyboard shortcut
I can do almost everything I want using keyboard. Which is a good thing because I don't have to touch mouse now. The only things left are creating a new map and opening an existing map using a keyboard shortcut.

keep special characters like ä ö ü after saving a map in dropbox
german "umlaute" (ä ö ü etc.) are replaced by different signs every time you save a map to dropbox. I don't know if the same happens when saving to google drive or other places. Would be nice to have that fixed.
2 votesthis is caused by a bug in the dropbox api. we reported the bug but dropbox support could not provide a date when this will be fixed.

Easier navigation with vim navigation
Love the Tab, write, Esc workflow for efficiently building up tree structures. What would perfect this navigation to me would be to support the h,j,k,l keys for navigating like in vim. On my machine I have Esc mapped to Caps Lock in this way I would be able to use mindmup using only the core parts of my keyboard. Might sound crazy but for people used to the vim workflow it makes all the difference. Having to jump to arrow keys for me is a complete disrupt in the workflow.

Import an other MindMup project in a node.
If it's a big project sometimes we create a lot of Mindmup files. Then if we want a unique Mindmup for the entire project it would be a great feature to integrate all the MindMup files in that new MindMup as new nodes. Here every nodes would be a MindMup files that we could extand with the shortcut "/" .
So the main interest is that in one file we got the entire project !42 votes
