I'd like to treat just a sub-tree, several generations(?) away from the master, as a task list. Everything else may be ideas, information or whatever I collect in my 'mup'.
But when I start updating nodes/tasks in my sub-tree, all the parents up to the top level are updated and changes color as well. I want to inhibit the status propagation from a selected node!8 votes
I can do almost everything I want using keyboard. Which is a good thing because I don't have to touch mouse now. The only things left are creating a new map and opening an existing map using a keyboard shortcut.4 votes
german "umlaute" (ä ö ü etc.) are replaced by different signs every time you save a map to dropbox. I don't know if the same happens when saving to google drive or other places. Would be nice to have that fixed.2 votes
this is caused by a bug in the dropbox api. we reported the bug but dropbox support could not provide a date when this will be fixed.
Love the Tab, write, Esc workflow for efficiently building up tree structures. What would perfect this navigation to me would be to support the h,j,k,l keys for navigating like in vim. On my machine I have Esc mapped to Caps Lock in this way I would be able to use mindmup using only the core parts of my keyboard. Might sound crazy but for people used to the vim workflow it makes all the difference. Having to jump to arrow keys for me is a complete disrupt in the workflow.8 votes
If it's a big project sometimes we create a lot of Mindmup files. Then if we want a unique Mindmup for the entire project it would be a great feature to integrate all the MindMup files in that new MindMup as new nodes. Here every nodes would be a MindMup files that we could extand with the shortcut "/" .
So the main interest is that in one file we got the entire project !42 votes
It would be good to have a subtree attached to the child which gives you contact names of people1 vote
Give the chance to not load MindMup with embed images and allowing reference to external locations.
Furthermore, allow to manually edit the URL of external source.3 votes
before this starts getting votes, please note that default browser security settings mean that all such maps will break PDF export, image export, html export and probably a ton of other things. using external images from sites that do not allow cors creates a ‘tainted canvas’ (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/HTML/CORS_Enabled_Image)
Cloud Based Presentation - enable animation of Mindmup fo presentation purposes - so that ideas can be communicated to an audience through the power of Mindmups!6 votes
while this is getting enough votes to be actionable – just a note to anyone interested that you can export a map to HTML or tab indented text (just open file→export), this will produce a nice outline, that you can actually load up in word or any text editor and just convert into an article
Possibility to see existing Chrome bookmarks inside a (1 special) Mindmup map (name eg. MindBookmarks) via sidebar (like hotkeys bar) and copy/paste or drag/drop them into node/map.
Sidebar should show present bookmarks folder structure and after placing bookmark in map receive some visual or text sign (or tag) that it is placed in map. Folder/sub hierarchy should be equivalent to parent/children... Also if possible (if Google API allow) to be interactive, ie. if bookmark position (parent) is changed under bookmark folder to be simultaneously changed in map (vice versa).8 votes
A smartphone todo list that is syncd to tagged nodes on a mindmup map. I think that is a killer app. Certainly would be for me.
Please...android first if you do it.4 votes
If you build a project from this structure, you can need to protect some data from public view.
If you want something from collaborativ user, you need to detect this and make a feedback (ex : to know where users have add ideas, where is the mouse cursor, which nodes have been expand/collapse (or another action), etc.).
I don't know if scripting could be used (or if develop each time something would be best).2 votes
Attachment editor not covering all of the nodes.
Ability to edit attachments and nodes at the same time.
Make attachment editor either a floating window on top of nodes or docked under or next to the nodes.
This is a pretty good mindmap app. It beats freemind, perhaps not in features, but because it is online editable. However, as a developer and sysad, I can say that the documentation is abysmal. I can figure out how to use the user interface just by playing around and that's about the only documentation available. I'm interested in running mindmup standalone. There's no real Q&A forum, AFAIK. I'm not proficient in Ruby yet, so there's a problem. I have too many questions to get started, so this might not be the place. The documentation is abysmal and mindmup won't work on my devel server. Here's just one example:
"To run offline, set the environment variable OFFLINE to true, and run the setup_offline.sh script in the root folder to download all the dependencies to /public/offline. This enables development and testing without an internet connection."
Ok. Just what does mindmup consider to be true? Any developer should know that it could be "true", true, TRUE, 1, nonzero, nonempty, etc. Bash, JS, PHP... they all have different concepts of trueness and string comparisons are just a hack. Above that verbiage, you talk about a .env config file. There are no examples of where to get the values. Like everyone has a Google Drive, Dropbox, and/or S3 account. I want some of the maps stored offline and I really don't know if it's safe to give minmup access to a Google Drive account or how one can restrict mindmup to just one directory.
So then, setup_offline.sh runs without error, but the public/offline folder is empty. foreman start throws errors, despite following the readme.md instructions. And the test script in test/ throws 5 errors with no explanation of what to do.
So where can I find answers to questions other than how to make a node pink?

Batch commands for subtrees of central nodes & customisable groupings a.k.a select a few nodes and assign them a group number so you can expand or close them faster.1 vote
It would be handy to be able to see active links to the last few opened maps. Maybe they could be listed under the controls in the box?
I save everything to Google Drive.
Not sure if this could be implemented given all of the choices you have given us for storage....but it would be handy.0 votes
support different shapes like circle, triangle, square ..etc.28 votes
Has been said once... but let´s do it again: Evernote integration will be a killer feature and will mean tons of new users coming!7 votes
Save to a git repository with specifying URI "git://~~~".
I want to save a mindmap to a non-Github git repository. Because Github private repository is not free. Git is not only Github.7 votes
alexxtasi – if gitlab has a sensible API that supports CORS, this shouldn’t be difficult to do. you should effectively reimplement https://github.com/mindmup/mindmup/blob/master/public/e/github.js
