What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. inserting Quizzes!!

in order to use mindmup as e-learning tool, we need the ability to add a question inside a branch

the branches that contains question should have clickable icon just like notes.
when the user click on it, a question would appear in the same way when the user click on a note.

I recommend that a branch should contains only one question that take the form of True/False or Multi choice or Matching questions

I also suggest that there should be default sound effects when the user make a correct answer or wrong answer.

  2. Resequence hierarchical references in AM mode by current left-right position on the map.

In argument mapping mode, hierarchical references are currently sequenced in the order in which they were created, even after moving nodes around or adding nodes to the left of already existing ones. . This can result in convoluted/unintuitive ordering. Having a clear sequence of nodes facilitates communication about them. Adding letters to indicate grouped claims (i.e., reasons) would facilitate communication even more.

I love the huge options of inserting interactive tags in thinglink
I wish if you can make some of them possible in Mindmup

check out them in thinglink website, they are awesome

  6. Import lay out of text documents (e.g. of .docx files) into node texts.

It would be great if I could do more than just copy plain text into the node notes. Now I can't even make words bold or italic in the notes.

I would like to paste the whole lay out and possibly the outline of a text document into a node note. It would make studying with mindmaps WAY more convenient.

Please make this possible! It would be a tremendous addition to an already great mindmapping tool!

  7. Nodes as their own tags

Connect node works poorly for large maps that go off the screen fully expanded. Instead of panning off the screen to connect a distant node, users could start typing the name of the destination node. Any dashed lines that cross multiple branches or go off screen could be hidden by default. They can still be represented by small popups that represent the nearest connected nodes (by dashed lines not branches). Hovering over a node could show all of its popups. Clicking on a popup would temporarily reveal hidden lines and cause the map to jump to those nodes. This allows…

  8. "Join/rejoin" arguments

In Argument Mapping create a function by which you can rejoin to "threads" or parts of an argument. More powerful than merely linking them.

  10. Consistency of shortcuts

"Enter" in Standard Mode creates a sibling box while "Enter" in Top-down view creates a child box.

Vice versa, "Tab" in Standard View Mode creates a child box while "Tab" in Top-down view creates a sibling box.

Is there a way to keep the shortcuts consistent across various views, ie ensure "tab" creates a child and "enter" creates a sibling in both horizontal and vertical views?

  12. exporting outline to powerpoint WITHOUT fixed font formatting

Currently your export into PPT (I use Google Slides) only exports FIXED Text formatted into each slide which I then need to manually edit every slide as it is not "text format" that automatically snags into the "text fields" from the templates in presentations.

This is MAJOR IMPORTANT as it is a waste of time if the text is exported with FIXED formatting.

It is actually useless when I create a presentation that has my given formatting, logo and fonts already set in my master templates.

So the only way for me is to use the outline and manually type…

  13. Add letters to hierarchical references in AM mode (e.g., 1.A.1, 1.A.2, 1.B.1) to facilitate discussing reasons

Reasons are groups of claims. Mindmup's argument mapping mode nicely groups claims that are part of a single reason visually. But it would make it much easier to discuss these reasons if one could refer to references to groups claims (e.g., 1.A or 1.B) rather than having to refer to a series of separately numbered claims.

  15. All synonyms as child nodes

When Im stuck, I find it immensely helpful to use a dictionary and put all known synonyms for a word into my mind map, to see if one of those spark my creativity in a new direction. I would love if the software could help me do this.

(On a similar note, I often run a word through picture search, to see if random pictures from the net can spark my creativity.)

  18. Task management: Snooze Nodes

Please add a "Snooze" button to the node context menu.
If a node is snoozed, if will be hidden for a specific amount of time.
So the mindmap can kept clean and crisp, since no nodes are shown, that I can not work on for now.

After clicking the snooze button, a popup should come up where I can set the time that node (and all his childs) will be hidden.
There should be the following options:
    - 12 hrs
    - 1 day
    - 2 days
    - 3 days
    - 1 week
    - 2 weeks
    - <manually entered number of…

  19. Think through complex, shifting inter-relationships

Which means having the ability to freely change node type and relation, e.g. child to sibling, sibling to a new root, etc. Without that capabiIity, I'm better off with paper and pencil. I love MM's interface, but it's just a tantalizing glimpse of what I need. I see that others have suggested parts of this, and that the developers declined and made reference to another project; I'd be very interested to hear about that when it becomes possible.
