What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Table Node

One feature I see in lots of other mind maps is a small table in the node, thus giving the user the ability to list longer lists of related information without having to create many extra nodes.

  2. Keyboard Shortcuts for moving nodes up and down in the tree

Ctrl-<Cursor-left> & Ctrl-<Cursor-right> would be the logical shortcuts.

  3. Show the number of child nodes in a collapsed branch

For collapsed braches, in addition to the node box graphic changing to a set of 4 stacked nodes (which bears no relation to how many nodes have been hidden) add a label to the stack graphic which shows the number of child nodes that are hidden eg (+23). Clicking on the stack/label or using / would then expand the child nodes. Similar to the paper click for attachments

  5. [Improvement of hyperlink in the "rich text attachment"]

    ** Current behavior **
In the rich text attachment editor
    (1) make the part of the string be highlighted by dragging
    (2) press the hyperlink button on the menu bar
    (3) enter a URL
    (4) press the Add button

    -->Result
Clickable URL is added to the top position of the attachment.
And the dragging part of string(1) becomes marked gray.

    ** Proposal **
The highlighted part above of the string itself becomes clickable.

  6. import/export RDF

I think the Mind Map could be useful to represent some RDF graph as well, so it would be interesting to be able to import/export from/to RDF.

  7. Stop userAgent sniffing and use feature detection

Currently your site does userAgent sniffing on page load, which is a web anti-pattern (see https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Browser_detection_using_the_user_agent, https://css-tricks.com/browser-detection-is-bad/, https://www.sitepoint.com/why-browser-sniffing-stinks/ and plenty of other resources). After all, a user can just override the user agent string.

Instead you should use feature detection to either shim when a feature is unavailable or then block until that browser supports the feature.

For the record - the app works fine in Edge with a userAgent that tells you it's actually Chrome.

  9. Add ability to export maps to Zapier

Add ability to export maps to Zapier would allow users to export and/or sync their Mindmups with over a 1000 third-party applications like Project Management systems, etc.

This would help the Mindmup company by increasing your user base since Zapier is used by over 1 million people.

In addition, there is only one other mindmap integration with Zapier and that product is very expensive. By adding this functionality, you would differentiate Mindmup from your competitors.

  10. Create map from list.

I like to have a list at the side of everything I am creating so a map can be built based on it. For example
    Unit 1
    a. Point a
    b. Point b
    Unit 2
    a. Point a
    b. point c

and then have the option to visualized the list on a map. and move point c to unit 1. working on a list but having to option to visualized it in a map it's a tool I have not seen in most mindmapping software.

  11. Create a mindmup structures that link to a url for an online outliner (Dynalist etc.) so any change in one is reflected in the other.

So if I have a dynalist node url I can past it as a "linked mindmap node" or some such. They sync to each other so that as I edit one - the other reflects these chances. You see a similar dynamic with some mindmap softwares where a built-in outliner style version of the mindmap exists in a side pannel so that people can create mindmaps easilly and also visualize mindmaps they have made in an outline form just for versatility and adding dynamic ways of visualization and input. This would go a step further and allow people to bring…

  14. Read/Edit from Android

This mindmap software would be a complete solution for my needs with android support. I propose an Android app for reading/editing these mindmaps, or at least publicly releasing the specifications for the files so that someone else can build the app.

  15. drop down menu for notes

Is there a way to create a Drop down Menu for Nodes Notes and the flexibility of Sorting them from A-Z ? e.g. Note 1 is How, Note 2 Aim and when sorted the Notes are Aim first then How second.

  16. Clarify Uservoice page instructions to reduce duplicate requests

In the intro text at the top of this uservoice page, add a clear instruction that the "What would you like to be able to do?" field really means something like "Please first search here to see if someone has already proposed a similar thing" then I believe there will be far less duplicate requests for features and it will be easier to look through them all to decide on which to vote etc. :)

  20. Allowing embedding of interactive Mindmup into Onenote

Onenote is starting to support various embedded media:
    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Embed-content-in-OneNote-fd5abf7d-abd4-4902-8e5f-93088c45b11d

Would be killer if you could embed mindmups in onenote since that's what we use for most of our work notes and communications. Great if you could see it right there, natively in onenote rather than having to open a browser.
