Link Mindmup maps to a time scale
I like to use mind maps for Objective Based planning because it allows the teams to determine the required logic behind what needs to take place. This is often a very manual job using a team and a planning wall. Mindmud has most of the required capability such as the ability to add multiple measures to a node (duration, resources, cost, etc...)
What would be required is the addition of linking a measure to a time scale, the ability to constrain a node to a particular spot and the linked notes build from that point on, strait lines that link the nodes that are generated in relation to the time scale and would show excess (float) time (ie: 2 day duration that is linked to a child note 3 days out would show a solid link and then change format for the last day), the generation of a spreadsheet export that would show the links between the nodes similar to a successor/predecessor assignment in a project plan.
The end results would be a time scaled network map that could be built in a brain storming environment with a large team collaborating on different sections at the same time.
This would make this an incredibly powerful visual tool for conflict identification, resourcing and live progress updates in a format the is very user friendly and easy to comprehend compared to the traditional Gantt chart listing for large projects.
