What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Node Attachment View
I already commented on some other idea in this forum with this, but I think this is really important. Many mind mapping tools are using so called notes view (node attachment in mindmup), but they are all doing it wrong. Maybe you think this is a bold statement, but with 15+ years of mindmapping experience I can assure you that notes (mindmup attachments) are integral part of any mindmapping/writing creative process. MindMap is visual way of structuring informations, but equally important is sequential (text) representation, which is after all final product of most export operations. The only software which is…
45 votesWe just did an update for writing notes and text content in MindMup 2.0 that is, I believe, similar to this request. How far is what you’re asking for from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZqv9aBVUo

Add citation extension.
I often use mindmup to keep research notes. It would be great if we could label each node with the source that it comes from, in some easy way.
11 voteswhat would you expect more than just using a link or attachment for that? See http://blog.mindmup.com/p/working-with-attachments.html and http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/03/hyperlinks-in-nodes.html

Free dragging
The child can be anywhere not exactly beside the parent, I can drag it far or close. This allows me to shape the mind map as i see fit.
Thanks85 votesHi,
you can use shift+drag to pull nodes far or close (http://blog.mindmup.com/2013/09/use-shiftdrag-to-manually-position-nodes.html) – how is what yuo propose different from that?
-
Drag and drop all selected nodes
Currently, when multiple nodes are selected and dragged on another node, only one of the selected nodes is moved.
It would be better to be able to move all of the selected nodes to the destination node at the same time (like with Freemind)44 voteswhile this is in voting, you can use ctrl+x and ctrl+v to cut+paste all selected nodes to a new parent

Provide alternative outline view
There are times when I visualize things as a hierarchical list and there are other times I'd visualize the tree graphically.
130 voteshi,
you can create an outline now by doing file→export to local disk→text (or html). the text export creates a tab separated outline, which you can load easily in excel. the html outline creates a doc that you can load in a browser or with word/similar text editors.
How is the proposal different from the current feature?

Evernote saving
Save notes to a notebook in evernote.
97 votesHi,
The new Atlas publishing option creates static HTML from mind maps, and you can then easily pull this into evernote. See http://discover.mindmup.com/atlas
Does this give you what you need, or is there something else that we need to consider regarding Evernote?

chat window and/or comments in collaboration
Could we have a chat window incorporated into the collaboration sessions along with a way to add comments that stay with the session after it's closed (without adding a node) kind of like Google docs does now? I think this would improve the collaboration capabilities a lot!
57 voteswhat kind of comments would you like to leave? can you give us a few examples? how would that improve the collab capabilities?

Table Node
One feature I see in lots of other mind maps is a small table in the node, thus giving the user the ability to list longer lists of related information without having to create many extra nodes.
17 voteswe have the concept of attachments – where you an add lots of rich text stuff including tabular info. (http://blog.mindmup.com/p/working-with-attachments.html)
What would you get with table nodes that current attachment support doesn’t give you?

Don't lose my data with a Jean-Luc Picard Facepalm
Is Mindmup a sensible, professional platform, or should we look elsewhere?
Just saying "doh" isn't good enough, clear recovery instructions to prevent data loss - and better still stopping / ensuring recovery automatically are what is needed.
Imagine Google's share price if they started to show a Patrick Stewart gif in response to temporary errors or made so little effort to ensue important information is recoverable.
This has showed up at work on our very stable internet connection, while I'm capturing notes in a meeting, I won't make that mistake again.
8 votesour support will contact you by e-mail so we could troubleshoot this. In the future, please get in touch directly with gold-support@mindmup.com if you need assistance.

Need the ability to selectively print notes
I need the ability to print only the notes at or below the selected node. This would allow MindMup to become a powerful manuscript/proposal writing tool.
1 votewhile this is getting votes, there is a workaround — export the outline into word, tick checkboxes to include notes and tick the checkbox to start from a selected node.
outline exports support getting part of a map already, and also support including notes into the export. the only downside is that you will get titles in the export for nodes without any notes.

Node order - clockwise and counterclockwise
For me is Quite important to have mind map nodes in counterclockwise order, as my brain works that way :)
( I know that Tony Buzan recommendation is clockwise).
This become very clear when you do presentation(with children) or export. Nodes in mindmup are ordered this way: first right side - clockwise, then left side - counterclockwise. It brings a lot of confusion to me, when I want to build presentation.
Could you please consider clockwise and counterclockwise ordering functions for all nodes in mindmup?
Please vote for this and make mindmup best MM tool ever!15 votesok, reopening this for further review

Toggle between story board and map
I would like a keystroke that toggled between a selected story board item and the same item (or items in the case of a bulleted entry) in the map.
1 votewhat do you mean by toggled?

Add error message when trying to save to github without first initializing oauth
The feature at first did not seem to work for me: After enabling github extension, and press "File -> save as -> GitHub", nothing happens. I tried on both FF and chrome, on two distinct windows 7 computers. Am I missing something, or is the feature broker ?
However, after trying to rather choose "File->import > open from github", then I was proposed to grant mindmup oauth github scopes, and from then "save" seems to work.
Would be great to warn the user trying to save a map without first initializing through import, that (s)he should first init through trying…
1 votethanks for letting us know. it should already work to set the oauth scopes when saving, but we’ll investigate

(Un)Fold Nodes Faster on Large Maps
On maps with dozens or more nodes, folding and unfolding nodes takes about 5 seconds. Seems like it's maybe checking all the child nodes, to see their fold/unfolded state and how much space they take up? Or all the nodes on the map? Either way, makes working with large maps difficult.
P.S.
Hopefully this isn't a duplicate. Couldn't find anything with various searches for "fold", "folding", "collapse", "collapsing", "faster", etc20 voteshi, can you please share some example maps with us (contact@mindmup.com) so we can speed them up. generally things should work fast, so you probably hit some edge case that we can fix.

Nodes TAG update!
Nodes.. I must write them everytime if the same! I suggest a way to modify one for modifying everyone! with the same "tag" so The "node" is updated! And If I wanna use It anywhere.. It will be displayed and I don't need to have a copy everytime with the risk to forget about updating one!!
(I'm not talking of numbers! measurements are good but doesn't show nodes, only numbers!)
3 votessorry I don’t understand what you are trying to achieve with this. what kind of global update do you expect with this?

keep special characters like ä ö ü after saving a map in dropbox
german "umlaute" (ä ö ü etc.) are replaced by different signs every time you save a map to dropbox. I don't know if the same happens when saving to google drive or other places. Would be nice to have that fixed.
2 votesthis is caused by a bug in the dropbox api. we reported the bug but dropbox support could not provide a date when this will be fixed.

Support OPML import and export
This feature request (from someone else) was closed before, but resubmitting as requested. This would make MindMup an attractive alternative to MindNode.
9 votesyou can now export mindmup 2.0 maps to OPML.
If you use google drive, use https://drive.mindmup.com
if you use free storage or Gold storage, use https://app.mindmup.com

support summary on nodes
Would like to support summary (using brace), which let me to put some comment/summary for a set of nodes
1 votei’m not sure I understand this. Can you give us a more detailed example? Also, how would this be useful, what would that enable you to do with a map better?
- Don't see your idea?
