What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  2. Word search from google

I create many mindmaps, it would be helpful if I can do Word search from google drive and it shows the maps which contain the keyword I type in google drive search

  3. Put A Date On Nodes & An Option To List Nodes In Date Order

I use MindMup for planning & as a To Do list. Either way, it would be really useful to be able to put a date on nodes which you know have to be completed by a particular time. If there was also a button which gave a 'list view' that mixed up all nodes in date order (regardless of their root node) you could see what your priorities at any given time. I tend to colour code nodes but it's manual and a bit vague.

  4. Notes section should show only the selected node's notes. Not all other notes.

Currently with the notes open, if i click on a particular node, corresponding note section heading gets highlighted. But it would be great if the only relevant notes occupy the complete note section. This helps the author to see what he is interested in.

  5. real-time ability to change the orientation of the entire argument map so that premises appear above conclusions, left of conclusions, etc.

    Benefits

    • at least in philosophy, students are generally introduced to textual arguments with the conclusion at the bottom (under a line) and premises above and proceeding methodically downward toward the conclusion. It is good pedagogical practice to connect new material, e.g., how to graphically represent the inferential structure in arguments using an argument map, to material students have already learned. So, it would be pedagogically beneficial to be able to graphically represent arguments with MindMup in a way that students have already learned.

    • Ultimately, of course, there is nothing magical or obligatory about any particular convention for representing arguments or…

  8. Ability to resize image by dragging

I would love to be able to quickly change the size of an image node by dragging the corners. Having to manually change the size by typing in the amount of pixels is a bit too time consuming, especially when one is working with a lot of images.

  9. Node position freezing

The ability to freeze portions of the layout while adjusting other parts. Too often I end up fighting the automatic repositioning of nodes and groups that are adjusted after I move a different node or group.

This is desirable because the relative positioning of the bubbles is important to an intuitive understanding of how they relate functionally, and the engine that repositions groups of nodes occasionally makes it difficult to achieve the desired layout (within defined constraints).

  10. Add citation extension.

I often use mindmup to keep research notes. It would be great if we could label each node with the source that it comes from, in some easy way.

It's understandable why you'd have to pay for gold to do a lot of processing power on MindMup's server, but why can't I do the CPU load on my own PC for free?

  13. Ability to publish maps privately with Mindmup Gold

Within organisations or teams it can be useful to keep a mindmap private. Using Mindmup to share in View only mode in Google Drive can be a little clunky as it keeps reminding you that changes can't be saved every time you try to open a branch. A Gold membership Private Publish mode would solve this

  14. Auto resize node width:

Please find a way that makes it possible to automatically increase the node width to the exact width that will accommodate all content on one line. Dragging it open is a great plus but sometimes it takes 2 or 3 attempts before it's nice and tight. e.g. double click on the RHS of the node automatically re-sizes the node.

  16. Smart Map Layout Templates

It would be extremely helpful to have various design templates to choose from when starting OR after completion of the map. Offer various shapes like an upward pitchfork, downward pitchfork, 3, E, spider, circle, etc. similar to Mindomo. You can change the shape as often as you want and go back to your original at any point.

  18. Give hashtags to nodes

It would be great to be able to add hashtags to nodes. For example if the map is very big and it includes somethings that fit in a different parts of the map. Then it would be great to add hashtag to a node and by clicking it shows where to find additional information about the subject.
