What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  2. Ability to "save as"/"open" and use Freemind format instead of .mup

I have several kinds of maps on various environments and operating systems, private and at work. What connects them is the Freemind format. Instead of exporting my .mup to .mm, it would be great to have the choice, which format I want to use for my work.

This would be better than export/import, because it would remain only ONE map. An export creates a new map, so I can't work on my original map for improvements, if I have to use another tool. Afterwards I have to reimport all the changes manually into my orininal .mup or create another "new"…

  3. Keyboard Shortcuts for moving nodes left and right of the root

It'd be great if we can move the first level of nodes left or right using Ctrl + → or Ctrl + ←.

Keyboard shortcuts already exist to move a node up or down (Ctrl + ↑ or Ctrl + ↓).

  4. Allow to add picture from clipboard to nodes

I used to use screen capture to capture idea on web screen while reading. this feature allows me to organize it to a mind map without tediously saving into a file and open it to a node.

  5. integrate google calendar

Allow users to insert a date/calendar entry into MindMup that syncs with google calendar. That way, when a user sees the calendar entry in the calendar they can click on the file and open the attached mindmup.

  7. Bullet points within a node

Being able to post a numbered or unordered list within a node would condense the graph and improve readability if users desire to do so

    Thanks!

  9. Change Nodes into Different Shapes

I would love to be able to change the shape of the nodes from all rounded corner rectangles to include some regular squared off rectangles, perfect squares, circles, ovals, cloud shape, star shape, etc. for better organization and visual hierarchy or symbology - eg. the cloud reprsents a thought/idea and the square represents an actual fact.

  10. Make objections against inferences visually clearer

In argument visualization, you can add an objection to a whole argument, not just against a specific proposition. That's great and important, since you may want to accept the truth of all premisses yet deny that they support the conclusion.

But right now, visually, it's a red line appearing inside the green brace. It's not clear. Maybe anchoring a red line in the green line of the argument against which you level an objection would be clearer.

  11. Ability to store on cloudstation or other private cloud

For mind-mups not intended for anyone, the ability to store them to your own cloud service is essential, especially in the light of recent NSA activities. Like many others, I own a NAS from Synology and use the "cloudstation" service provided by it. I would like to be able to use it for storage of Mindmups.

  12. Ability to publish a map in a public directory

    I'm following up onto http://mindmup.uservoice.com/forums/200447-what-should-we-focus-on-next-/suggestions/3800017-searching-browsing-through-public-mind-maps

It would be great to be able to share publicly some maps. In the same way a drive document can be private, shared (anyone with the link), or public (searcheable and browseable).

When a map is made publicly available, a title and tags could be added, along with other metadata (author nick name, last modif date, creation date).

The public directory(ies) would be browseable by tags, last modification date, title, or words within the maps. Ideally the directory would be indexed by search engines, and maps would be indexed along.

    E.g. 'impact map mindmup" on…

  15. Allowing embedding of interactive Mindmup into Onenote

Onenote is starting to support various embedded media:
    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Embed-content-in-OneNote-fd5abf7d-abd4-4902-8e5f-93088c45b11d

Would be killer if you could embed mindmups in onenote since that's what we use for most of our work notes and communications. Great if you could see it right there, natively in onenote rather than having to open a browser.

  16. Optional Placement Grid

An optional placement grid whould be great.

I assume that many of us dont just want to use Mindmup for quickly thrown-together brainstorm layouts, but also want to make the whole thing look a bit more professional, and the ability to line up nodes properly with a grid whould be great for this.

also: please have an option or simply change how stickers and node extension change the "middle" of a node. it's incredibly frustrating when moving nodes around that, for example have a sticker, and the node then moving to a different place. likewise, when adding a sticker, since…

  18. As a MindMup user, I want to have a Flowchart feature, so that I can collaborate process flow with my colleagues

As mindmap caters brainstorming ideas and organizing information, flowchart will help in terms of managing process flow visually.
