What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Theme Straight Lines connects texts' tail and head.

The original (maybe before 2020/07/20) theme, which connects from parent's tail to child's head, is so great!
But the new theme changed to connect their centers, then I'm really hard to read the hierarchy, their alignment became not so clear.
And I still wanna use "Straight Line" instead of "Standard", 'coz of it's simplism.

  2. Option to hide/reveal connections or lines between nodes in Concept maps

When a child node has several parent nodes, connecting the child node to one parent node and linking with lines to other parent nodes is the option that we are currently using. This way the map is looking little bit clumsy with many connections and lines. If there is a way to hide/reveal these lines that'll make the presentation neat and easy to understand.

  4. Ability to select a subtree of an existing mind map and create a new map out of it

For now managed this by selecting a subtree, doing a copy, asking to start a new map and pasting. Would be nice to just select the subtree and have Mindmup take a 'start new mindmap request'.
Also, there seems to be a bug - when I select a subtree and paste it onto a new one, it shows multiple cross linkages over and beyond the original one.

  5. Automatic argument weighing

Add an automatically calculated weight number that can be represented by either numbers or thinner/thicker lines in that each reason makes the parent argument stronger by 1 point and each objection makes it weaker by 1 point. The sum is then added to the level above and so on, up to the root. The functionality this brings is, when the root is a question, negative numbers will mean a negative answer and positive numbers will mean a positive one. It's a way to make argument maps into decision maps automatically.

  7. Default should be arrows going up

I love the new arrow function and the high-impact argument visualization. But I think the default option is that the arrows go up, not down. The arrows are supposed to indicate the direction of support. So, premise P supports a conclusion C if P gives us a reason to believe C, which means that the direction of rational support goes from the premise to the conclusion. Hence, the arrow should point from the premise to the conclusion. This is how argument mapping has traditionally been done, at least, for many years: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_map

  8. Allow us to show links across trees in top down maps.

Top-down maps are great. But I would like to be able to show co-dependencies across trees.

At the moment the only way to show links between nodes in different branches of different trees is the straight-line arrow. It would be great to to be able to bring together node connections that have a different hierarchical origin.

  9. New node should stay on on top while writing it.

Now it sometimes goes behind the parent node and what is being written cant be seen.

  10. Introduce Hashtags

introduce hashtags, so that if I search for a word I would like see all the annotations I made in the different concept maps regarding that single word to appear.

  13. Argumentative schemes ou models

It would be fine to have some argumentative schemes bo begin with, like Toulmin model ou Douglas Walton schemes.

  14. To change the colour of text in Notes (to be better visible)

Text in the Note panel is light blue and shadow. It is very uncomfortable for eyes because of worse visibility. I suggest to change the colour of text in Notes panel (or to offer the possibility of colour´s election at least) to be better visible.

Mind mup is my lovely work tool - thank you very much!

  15. Optimised positioning

An option for the all the nodes to be automatically repositioned to 50% left of central node and 50% right. This would be great for maps where position does not matter as all second tier nodes share the same importance.

  16. Show the keyboard shortcut when hovering over a toolbar icon

It's easier to remember the shortcuts when they're popping up every time you use features, rather than having to study a separate page of listed shortcuts.

  17. The ability to make hyperlinks open in the tab of the map instead of opening in a new tab

I'd like to have the option to open hyperlinks in the same tab as the map instead of opening a new one. I'm working on a website that uses mind maps to help people study, there are "module maps" that link to "lesson maps" that hold the course content. Whenever a link on the module maps is clicked a new tab opens. Once the user is finished with the site they can have nearly two dozen tabs of the site open, it makes for a pretty poor user experience. This is a problem with every mindmap platform I've used, I'm…

They are really too big, and gives % progression for "in progress"

  20. Manually bend connecting lines

Sometimes if the map is a particularly busy one with lots of connections, some of the connecting lines aren't easy to spot at a glance, as they go behind other nodes.
Sometimes this can make it look like there are connections between things that there are not.
The ability to manually bend connecting lines would mean being able to detour around nodes that are in it's path, to make the connections clearer.
