What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. ability to centre screen on what is showing after collapsing some nodes

In a complex map I collapse many nodes while working on others, but when I try to centre the map it either centres on the root node or else centres as if nothing was collapsed. Either way, it's not as handy as it might be if it centred what was now showing.

  3. Protect Node from Accidental Deletion

Right click on a node and select "Protect from Accidental Deletion/Modification". While the undo-redo options are there... while collaborating, you may be unsure of the changes and this would act as a good safe.

Provide a warning prompt that this node is currently protected and cannot be modified without removing protection

  4. The ability to collapse single nodes into a parent

If Node A has Children B and C.

I want the functionality to collapse B into Node A without affecting Node C.

    Here's a little image explanation:

    http://imgur.com/a/Tut1O

This should be relatively easy to code. Similarly it could be that only selected nodes get collapsed into their parent node...

  5. Cloning

I build very large maps that tend to repeat large sections of the map in different branches. Freemind instituted this sort of cloning but the latest update is a real mess. It would be nice if I could simply do a visual link to a branch, show it visually, without actually creating a second instance of the stored data.

  7. Toolbar on the side in Mindmup 2.

Computer monitors are all widescreen nowadays. Could the toolbar be on the side, instead of the top? Maybe an option the user can set?

  11. Please revert to the old map traversing

In the past I could go with keyboard to leaves of some OTHER parent only through the parent. Since once it became unconventional. Now if I am on a leaf and want to add a new leaf to the OTHER parent I often have to take my mouse, because it is FASTER than with the keyboard. Prior I could do it with ONLY the keyboard. Please revert it to the old map traversing.

  14. Task management: Snooze Nodes

Please add a "Snooze" button to the node context menu.
If a node is snoozed, if will be hidden for a specific amount of time.
So the mindmap can kept clean and crisp, since no nodes are shown, that I can not work on for now.

After clicking the snooze button, a popup should come up where I can set the time that node (and all his childs) will be hidden.
There should be the following options:
    - 12 hrs
    - 1 day
    - 2 days
    - 3 days
    - 1 week
    - 2 weeks
    - <manually entered number of…

  17. Import lay out of text documents (e.g. of .docx files) into node texts.

It would be great if I could do more than just copy plain text into the node notes. Now I can't even make words bold or italic in the notes.

I would like to paste the whole lay out and possibly the outline of a text document into a node note. It would make studying with mindmaps WAY more convenient.

Please make this possible! It would be a tremendous addition to an already great mindmapping tool!

  18. Integrate with Slack

Ability to share maps with distributed teams via Slack would be great than send emails. Currently, it posted as plain text which is not very helpful.

  19. add support for Image note!!

currently Mindmup does support attaching Images
but from my experience, it's only useful for icons of 50 pixels in size!
because large image would mess up the look of the map

so I suggest adding what I call "Image note"
when adding them, they would not appear on map, instead it would add a tiny interactive icon just like when adding notes

when the user click on it, the Image would appear just the like the note would appear

  20. Create a save button

There is NO save button on my browser and NO save button in any of the tabs (File, Insert, Edit, Help, etc.) so I assumed that work done would be automatically saved as it is linked to my Google Drive. This apparently is not the case though as when I went to consult the MindMup that I had spent more than 4 hours creating, everything was gone. How are you supposed to know that it is required to save work when there is no button/option to save and there is no warning to save work?
