What should we focus on next?
MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

Accessibility issues - colorblindness
Addition of a colorblind mode in order to quickly change how we organize the maps.
Ability to edit fonts and sizes in line labels for potential reading difficulties.
Also, incorporate an automatic text-to-speech features for argument visualization stating reasoning or objections.3 votes -
Ability to Export a Single Level of Nodes
It would be instrumental and time-saving to be able to export a specific level of nodes, rather than all levels below a selected node (as it currently works).
For example, if we need a text list of all nodes from a certain level, we currently need to download all nodes as an outline, with a tab separator, so we can divide the different levels in columns of a spreadsheet, and filter the blank rows. Then copy the column (level) and paste it onto a notepad.
An option to "download level of selected node" or something along those lines, would save…

Manual node connections (arrows) should have hotkey and survive copy/paste
I make a lot of use of the "connect to another node" option.
It would be great if it had a hotkey--it currently appears not to.
I also often find myself copy/pasting maps and editing them slightly. Sadly, manually added node connections do not survive copy/paste.5 votes -
Better support for web links
Basic support for Links is already there.
When i type something like http:/// in cell, there is pop ups an icon to click and it takes me to the link.
But it would be better to be able to assign a name together with the link.
e.g if i mindmap a component order list for a product, i like to write down "Screw M3x8" instead http://link/to/supllier2 votes -
As a user, I would like to be able to 'Adjust node image' without having text in node.
As a user, I would like to be able to 'Adjust node image' without having text in node. Currently, the feature requires text in node to enable the 'Adjust node image' feature. My work-around is to type a space and then use the feature.

freemind / freeplane compatibility mode
I have seen that freemind / freeplane compatibility was already taken into account: https://mindmup.uservoice.com/forums/200447-what-should-we-focus-on-next/suggestions/4128495-use-the-same-hotkeys-as-freeplane-and-freemind-so
We are heave users of freeplane and I would suggest "freeplane compatibility mode" to keyboard shortcuts.
Some things that I have noticed right away:
in freeplane spacebar is used to fold/unfold trees and F2 is used to edit the content of the node (in mindmup both spacebar and f2 edits),
- shortcuts like ctrl-b (bold) in freeplane work also when you don't edit - this is very nice as you don’t need to enter edit mode/select - you just press ctrl-b and whole node is bolded.6 votes -

Ability to change the size & color of line labels
The line labels are difficult to notice & read. I use them to convey key information. I need to be able to control the size & color of the text. Perhaps even the font.

Add an option to change the opacity for node background colors
Being able to change the opacity of the node colors is such a small thing, but it would finally allow designing way prettier mind maps.

convert workflow into powerpoint presentation
Convert entire workflow into a slide in powerpoint that uses the shape elements . Not looking to convert each node into a slide like the Storyboard feature.

Re-starting the number labeling for a root node
I'm outlining different processes out in a single page. I'd like to be able to have the number label not be sequential across the different processes (as represented by a new root node). The number label should restart with each new process or root node. This would be helpful to easily compare the steps on the different processes.

Allow none-straight connectors to another node

Show notes below nodes instead in separate panel
I want show notes below my child node. All in one picture and not in separate panel. It's better for presentations or understadning if you need explain one theme (child node) more than in 1 - 2 words

Set default word wrap limiter
It would be awesome to be able to set the word wrap limiter in the preferences (after e.g. 40 characters, do a line wrap) - I need to constantly expand or contract the nodes by hand to make things fit.
A limiter set to 0 could signal default behavior. Any other number (within reason) would signal where to wrap lines.2 votes -

Writing notes - should not be so low in the screen
When having more than few notes (even if they are folded) the input text cursor is at the very bottom of the screen.
I really don't like the feel of this
It may be nice to have option for the note to have a full text editor where the cursor is somewhere in the middle of the input box.1 vote -
Escape shall not clear the edit on note
In my environment, when I hit the escape key in the note editor, the edit is cleared and the content vanishes without any warning, etc. I suspect this behavior is not an ideal one and appreciate if you can fix it.
Workaround so far: click somewhere on the mindmap. More handy workaround for keyboard freaks is welcomed.

cursor move on the tree structure, not the screen direction
currently I think cursor move by keyboard gives node focus towards given direction, not on the graph hierarchy. This makes very hard to select certain kind of nodes (such as intermediate nodes between big subtrees). I think there should be an option to use cursor key to move the focus along with its connections between nodes, not direction.

Have a palette of formatted nodes we can customize (color, border, text)
At a minimum, current colors palette needs to be customizable. The current color palette is not much usable given color choices. The alternative of having to give hex color code for each node is unpractical. Defining themes helps but is limited and does not work on nodes that have been modified already. This might be extended into a new palette of customizable node formats (a bit like one can define styles in word)
