What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Mindmapping (Chrome) Bookmarks

Possibility to see existing Chrome bookmarks inside a (1 special) Mindmup map (name eg. MindBookmarks) via sidebar (like hotkeys bar) and copy/paste or drag/drop them into node/map.
Sidebar should show present bookmarks folder structure and after placing bookmark in map receive some visual or text sign (or tag) that it is placed in map. Folder/sub hierarchy should be equivalent to parent/children... Also if possible (if Google API allow) to be interactive, ie. if bookmark position (parent) is changed under bookmark folder to be simultaneously changed in map (vice versa).

  2. A search function is required for both node names & their contents.

Batch commands for subtrees of central nodes & customisable groupings a.k.a select a few nodes and assign them a group number so you can expand or close them faster.

  3. Have an option to inhibit status propagation to parent nodes

I'd like to treat just a sub-tree, several generations(?) away from the master, as a task list. Everything else may be ideas, information or whatever I collect in my 'mup'.
But when I start updating nodes/tasks in my sub-tree, all the parents up to the top level are updated and changes color as well. I want to inhibit the status propagation from a selected node!

  4. Create new or open a map using a keyboard shortcut

I can do almost everything I want using keyboard. Which is a good thing because I don't have to touch mouse now. The only things left are creating a new map and opening an existing map using a keyboard shortcut.

  6. Send the text from some nodes to a cell phone app. "Mindmup ToDo"

A smartphone todo list that is syncd to tagged nodes on a mindmup map. I think that is a killer app. Certainly would be for me.
Please...android first if you do it.

  7. Easier navigation with vim navigation

Love the Tab, write, Esc workflow for efficiently building up tree structures. What would perfect this navigation to me would be to support the h,j,k,l keys for navigating like in vim. On my machine I have Esc mapped to Caps Lock in this way I would be able to use mindmup using only the core parts of my keyboard. Might sound crazy but for people used to the vim workflow it makes all the difference. Having to jump to arrow keys for me is a complete disrupt in the workflow.

  8. Title Box for MindMup

Simple 3 line table that could be inserted anywhere on the screen so that you can include the Mindmup Title, Author, revision and other details.

  9. Recent maps

It would be handy to be able to see active links to the last few opened maps. Maybe they could be listed under the controls in the box?
I save everything to Google Drive.
Not sure if this could be implemented given all of the choices you have given us for storage....but it would be handy.

  10. Expand/Collapse node with a single click

Would be great to expand/collapse a node with a single click, this is standard on all mind mapping tools I have used. Thanks.

while this is getting enough votes to be actionable – just a note to anyone interested that you can export a map to HTML or tab indented text (just open file→export), this will produce a nice outline, that you can actually load up in word or any text editor and just convert into an article

  12. RDF / RWW Storage

http://data.fm/ & http://rww.io/ are some examples of RWW Storage. These platforms are designed to support Linked Data; or RDF.

Mindmup could be used for developing ontological references, or functional processes, such as managing, navigating or appending RDF Data, stored on RWW Services.

The simplest method would simply be to start by adding WebID AUTH; and the means to connect / store, on available LDP instances (ie: rww.io data.fm, etc.)

Longer-term, ontological tools could be used to help people define RDF Graph Data, using the MindMup interface.

  13. Improved attachment editor

Attachment editor not covering all of the nodes.

Ability to edit attachments and nodes at the same time.

Make attachment editor either a floating window on top of nodes or docked under or next to the nodes.

    Thanks

  14. Better Documentation

This is a pretty good mindmap app. It beats freemind, perhaps not in features, but because it is online editable. However, as a developer and sysad, I can say that the documentation is abysmal. I can figure out how to use the user interface just by playing around and that's about the only documentation available. I'm interested in running mindmup standalone. There's no real Q&A forum, AFAIK. I'm not proficient in Ruby yet, so there's a problem. I have too many questions to get started, so this might not be the place. The documentation is abysmal and mindmup won't work…

  15. Import an other MindMup project in a node.

If it's a big project sometimes we create a lot of Mindmup files. Then if we want a unique Mindmup for the entire project it would be a great feature to integrate all the MindMup files in that new MindMup as new nodes. Here every nodes would be a MindMup files that we could extand with the shortcut "/" .
So the main interest is that in one file we got the entire project !

  19. Add image from drive.

when adding icons/image it would be nice to use images already stored on google drive. and also a quick way to add other files stored in drive as attachments. I don't know if this is possible through the drive API but it would be very useful
