What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Give hashtags to nodes

It would be great to be able to add hashtags to nodes. For example if the map is very big and it includes somethings that fit in a different parts of the map. Then it would be great to add hashtag to a node and by clicking it shows where to find additional information about the subject.

  2. Change locations of 'link' and 'note' within a node

Often in my maps I have both links and notes at each node. I've found that when publishing to Atlas, users may accidentally click on the link icon when they meant to click on a note icon, and vice versa.

Currently, both icons are located in the top right corner of the node. Would it be possible to adjust this, such that the link icon is say in the top right, and the note icon on the bottom right? This would avoid accidental click-through issues

  3. node order displayed visually

it would be nice to have an option to show on each node the logical order in the map so when I export them in another format example MD I can see where they'll be placed and if not happy I can drag and drop before the export; at the moment on complex maps it's not that clear specially when you have moved nodes around from left to right or bottom to top

  5. Make Mindmup Gold functionality comparable to the Mindmup for Google Drive

As a gold user I feel let down by the experience as it compares to Mindmup for Google drive.

Mindmups in Google Drive are easy to find share and organise. Gold is much worse / barely comparable by comparison. There are no features.

  6. Sugestion: Work offline on iOS devices by app in order to take notes when there isn't an internet connection available

I usually take notes in lectures on my ipad, and there is not always an internet connection available. We need Work offline on iOS devices by app. In the past, the app had support for working offline.

  7. For argument mindmup - allow embedding of dynamic reference to the number of another claim or reason

    Hello!

I love the fact that argument mindmups dynamically number all claims. (for my uses, this is the #1 competitive advantage of MindMup.)

It is often beneficial to reference one claim inside of another claim or reason.

For example, imagine a mindmup with the following sibling claims

1.1 -> "All dogs are brown"
1.2 -> "Suffering and death from lack of food, shelter and medical care are bad."
1.3 -> "If it is an individual's power to prevent something bad (1.2) from happening, without thereby sacrificing anything of comparable moral importance, we ought, morally to do it."

    To keep claim…

  8. Center view on youngest node.

We currently have the option to recenter our view on the root node. Could you please allow us to recenter our view onto the latest child node?

I have to make large flow charts and it is physically uncomfortable to constantly be staring at the far-right side of my screen where the latest node is located. I want my current work to be in the center.

  9. Printing Outline Line Breaks, Presentation or Study Mode on Mobile Devices

Question # 1: in my prior mindmups long before I signed up for mindmup gold, there were CSS codes I think I was using where I can set each level of nodes with a certain color and font sizes
as well as node image sizes. I don’t have that code nor do I remember how to use them anymore. I’m constantly resizing and sometimes even coloring the nodes themselves

Question # 2: Line Breaks, I checked the mindmup developers website and feature suggestions in the past and in the present. Line breaks can be entered using Shift + Enter but…

  10. View - Hiding and revealing images

Allowing, in the View menu, to hide or reveal all images at once, would allow the user focus in the structure of branches of the tree, rather than foccusing in the particular branches content.

I'm building a map with lots of schemes and images, some of then very large (otherwise I'll not be able to see and understand then), and it is very usufeull. But sometimes all I want to do is to see the structure of my map, and in these occasions those huge images are hurdles.

  13. note popup

it would be possible instead to open the note editor on the left to add another key like N instead of n where you'll have a popup window or something like that to quickly add a note or see the note content, this is very handy when I need to edit a lot of node with small text, the current editor takes a bit too much space and I need to move a lot the mouse to go back and forth... not that productive... thnaks

  15. Restrict linking ability to specified folders

When collaborating on a project with someone, I don't want them to have access to all of my Google Drive - just the files that are relevant to the project. I noticed that when I went to link a document to a node, I was given access to the whole of my Google Drive.

  16. While creating map it should ask contributing cause or outcome for each node and then requesting hidden notes/comments if needed for that

This would make mapping working to thought process of individual faster and creating it would be far more easier

  17. Be able to make the map useful as (sidebar) menu in other application. User defined name value pair attributes to nodes. Unique ("universal"

Be able to make the map useful as (sidebar) menu in other application.
User defined name value pair attributes to nodes. Editable and not editable (not editable set by other application). Unique ("universal") id of both the map and each node. Url connection from node, to open in a new tab. (.. great app :-) )

  18. Parent and root nodes that can be referenced via a url and then reused / shared / edited live within other mindmaps

We can already add multiple root nodes. It would be great if the nodes we've already created could be packaged / arranged and reused on our own or other people's mindmaps.

While this is not entirely in-line with "MindMaps" per se, (for example the different context would make them "brittle" and prone to break in the context of other maps) and such a feature would offer a more powerful "semantic map". It's easy to solve the brittleness problem by allowing versioning and forking of sub-graphs.

  19. Cursors and avatars for every active collaborator so that I can see their work and focus as it's in motion.

Currently it's possible to interfere with the efforts of other collaborators because it's not possible to see where edits are intended or in progress as they happen.

Google sheets for example offers functionality that allows users to collaborate easily by:

    • Showing where a user is focused / performing an edit using a cursor colour coded to a list of live-user's avatars

Another important fact is that when collaborating on a graph such as a mindmap it's possible to edit in ways that might remove the node another user is currently focused on, or that are so substantial it disorientates other…
