What should we focus on next?

MindMup is community driven, so we’ll work on what our users want the most. For best results, please:
- Formulate ideas as work objectives (explain why, not just what/how). For example, ‘collaborate with friends remotely’ is much better than asking for ‘google realtime v2.0 integration’
- Do not submit stuff anonymously. We want to discuss your proposal with you if it gets votes, and anonymous submissions don’t allow us to do that. Ideas submitted anonymously will most likely be closed.

  1. Manually bend connecting lines

Sometimes if the map is a particularly busy one with lots of connections, some of the connecting lines aren't easy to spot at a glance, as they go behind other nodes.
Sometimes this can make it look like there are connections between things that there are not.
The ability to manually bend connecting lines would mean being able to detour around nodes that are in it's path, to make the connections clearer.

  2. To change the colour of text in Notes (to be better visible)

Text in the Note panel is light blue and shadow. It is very uncomfortable for eyes because of worse visibility. I suggest to change the colour of text in Notes panel (or to offer the possibility of colour´s election at least) to be better visible.

Mind mup is my lovely work tool - thank you very much!

  4. Straight line connectors

Straight lines would help with listing points leading on to each other below each node.

  5. Multiple notes per node -and- text along connections

I want to use this software to plan assignments, what would be really helpful is allowing multiple notes per node (around 10+ would work) in order to input possible quotes and evidence for the point made in the node. And to be able to put text along the connections, for connecting statements for better flow in assignments. Honestly, if it had these features I would subscribe in a heartbeat. Please vote. Thanks.

  6. In argument visualisation, offer orange as a third 'colour' edge for rebuttals.

An objection to an objection is a rebuttal. At the moment you simply have objections coloured red and objections to those objections also red.

In order to make the inferential structure easier to visualise you could offer rebuttals as an alternative orange-coloured edge. (This idea is borrowed from Rationale.)

  7. Navigate your mind map with a minimap

Create a squared minimap attached to any of the corners, allowing us to see the entirety of the mindmap and our current position in it at all times. Then simply make it clickable, transporting the user to the area clicked on the minimap.

  8. Ability to Reorder and Insert Nodes

Provide the ability to reorder nodes and insert nodes between existing nodes. It seems that now, you must delete all following nodes to add a node in the middle of an existing map.

  9. Create node from table

    Hi Team

It is great to know and apply Mindmup. The app is very smart and useful.

    • I just want to add 1 more function: table import, export or visualize Why should we have this function: Mindmup is the best app to brainstorm and discuss. But after that our team always have to export it as text, and then manually put it into table for presentation and storage (For ex: excel file). With large app, it is really cost a lot of time for admin task.

    Thank you for your support
    Hoa

  10. Ability to save custom colors in the color palette

Currently, you can enter a hex code, or name, for a custom color.

It would be very useful to have the ability to save those custom colors to the palette.

This way we would avoid having to look for the hex code of the color we want, copy it, paste it and apply it.

  11. Recognisable form in word documents (such as google docs) (Importing docs/word format recognised)

    Current situation:
I write up what I want to mind map into a word document (Google docs or word), and then write up this in a mind map
    Amendment:
A structure or table that mind map can recognise, be copied in and will automatically generate a mind map
    Advantages:
Ideas can be written down the first time into an acceptable format, and mind map is just re expressing in a more visual way. It would save so much time, and be really awesome
Why can I not just write straight into mind map:
Safe copy in word first, more flexible…

  12. Basic drawing and annotation features

It would be really useful to be able to draw custom elements, shapes etc onto the background, or type annotations around nodes and lines.

An example would be, so that I can use lines to divide the map into sections, each section of which can home nodes that belong to a specific category or group.

Or to be able to create little doodles around nodes to make them more visually interesting/accessible.

  13. Have nodes branch off in any direction including above or below parent

Currently, I can only place a child node to the left or right of its parent.
I then have to commit to branching off in that direction.
For my purposes, it would be useful to branch off in different directions including directly above or below the parent node.

  15. Enhanced "Connect to another node"

Either allow "Connect to another node" to have bi-directional arrows showing mutually dependent premises, or offer a non-arrowed node connecting line.

  16. Perhaps like RATIONALE (Reasoninglab) it could have basic boxes

Mindmpup could include some basic support boxes, like Rationale.
Like: common belief, case study, statistics, example, expert opinion, publication, quote, ....

  18. The ability to make hyperlinks open in the tab of the map instead of opening in a new tab

I'd like to have the option to open hyperlinks in the same tab as the map instead of opening a new one. I'm working on a website that uses mind maps to help people study, there are "module maps" that link to "lesson maps" that hold the course content. Whenever a link on the module maps is clicked a new tab opens. Once the user is finished with the site they can have nearly two dozen tabs of the site open, it makes for a pretty poor user experience. This is a problem with every mindmap platform I've used, I'm…

  19. Node Type and Attributes

    Great tool....

One thing that I would like to be able to do is to create my own node types and link them together. Currently we can only link one type of node, but if we could create our own node types then we could link various type of nodes together which would carry more structured information.

For example Course -> Class -> Times

And also, being able to add a list of key value pair attributes on each node. Which can allow for semi-structured data to be stored against each node.

for example, a Question node, could have attributes…

  20. Show the keyboard shortcut when hovering over a toolbar icon

It's easier to remember the shortcuts when they're popping up every time you use features, rather than having to study a separate page of listed shortcuts.
